View Full Version : Living Legacy Extension?
So, I renew my account at the end of July, seeing that the free time is coming to an end, and having enjoyed messing around casually with the game again. Now, barely a week later, it turns out that firstly I could have continuted playing for free, and secondly I miss out on a nice Drake pet.It didn't take me long to start sympathising with the players who have loyally stuck with EQ2 all these years and have been complaining that Living Legacy has done nothing to reward their loyalty! So, can we please see some reward for the long term loyal customers - they deserve it for sticking with the game, and also, where's my Drake pet?

I was a bit miffed by the pet drake too. I thought I was supposed to get it during the promotion, then when I re-subbed, and still no pet drake. Now it's being offered to people who still haven't signed up?That's a bit of confusing marketing around the pet drake. Is there really a pet drake? Will there ever be a pet drake? Does anyone have a pet drake? If you have a pet drake, what magical point of playing and re-subbing did you get the elusive pet drake?

Imagine the feeling that those people who never canceled have? I mean just think, three free months, an expansion and future discounts on the next one, some in game items. Who knows, maybe they made the game free to play and are just seeing how long the long time subscribers will keep on paying?Basically, in the same period of time our family spent a bit over $500 in subscription fees and the expansion on two accounts.

It was expressed early on that the only benefit we would gain would be new friends to play with in the game. maybe we just are not all that friendly and did not make new friends yet. Shame on us!

The proper way to really do veteran rewards is to have two sets of them. You have real veteran rewards which go by the number of months you've actually paid for (with bonuses for buying expansions). City of Heroes does this, and it's a nice way to reward folks who have really been playing since launch, as opposed to us long-term n00bs who have played about 6 months spread out over 4 years. You make all those items exclusive. LORE, NO TRADE, NO VALUE. So, the only way to get them is via /claim, and while everyone can eventually get them (if they play long enough)... the folks who have played solid since launch will get them first. Now, you make a second set of promo items to entince new players. These items are also available by /claim (and in some cases, by live events), and they're also marked LORE, but you allow them to be traded on the broker. Why? Because, they aren't as exclusive. The long time veterans will be able to get them from people who are just playing on free time and fully intend to go idle again, or from those who don't care about them. That way, new players get lots of toys and goodies, old players get prestiege items that ONLY they can get, and the old players can eventually get the new toys too. Everyone wins.

I think you all need to go read it again it is not an extension for EQ2 accounts ,It's for people who have an inactive EQ1 account that want to give EQ2 a try If they never have before.

That's better, but my point still stands. Veterans deserve rewards that new players don't get, and that returning players don't get. I say that, as a returning player who wouldn't get most of them. Sure, I like toys, but people who have shelled out cash and time for the last 4 years should have MORE toys than me.
The pet drake seems to be for those new players that got invited to the special living legacy trial and not for returning players or others.I have seen the drakes and I didn't really like them, which is lucky for me I guess

The pet drake is a /claim item for someone who started a trial AFTER recieving one of the invites from the "invite 20 of your friends and get a free month" part of the promotion. You don't get the drake for participating in the reactivated portion of the promotion, nor if you download the trial without going through one of the invites.

Yeah the drake reward was a complete 'slap in the face' to the Living Legends who've been sticking with the game continually for the last four years. No question about it.

I dont object to giving out shiny stuff to encourage new players... but not at the expense of loyal customers. Even if the pet wasnt given out to all existing members they could have done the promo in a way that was inclusive to loyal customers rather than excluding them.

For example, giving the pet to the person who recruited that new player as well. Both are contributing to the future success of the game. The recruiter doubly so. That would give incentive for old players to do some recruiting, making for a more successful promo. Nothing but Win.

The reasoning was that they did not want the returning players to feel slighted. I read that, read it again and shook my head.

It's funny they updated the user database prior to the launch of this promotion and I was tripping when I saw her account as listed having an EQ2 account. I tried to log in and it said it wasn't active. Low an bhold two days later, I am making characters on the account.Perfect timing...well sort of...I had already started a trial account for my daughter who had leveled up a couple chars. I guess we will just keep it on wife the wofes old account, it takes like 2 hours to get to level 12 anymore...See yas in norrath!
