As I was recently told here, the German description "1% chance" is only a typo mistake. In English it reads "100%".

How exactly now does this spell work? Does it make the spell of the mob "leave" the mob, i.e. is the mob's spell completely suppressed so that other players are also not affected by the attack? Or is the berserker only protected?

Must the berserker be tanking the mob to be able to counter the mob's attack by Gut Roar?

One of the most cryptic things ever. Nobody knows nothing. PvP should not affect PvE :-/

Heck, how can you know if a mob's attack is a racial skill?

I suppose it to be absolutely useless against VP nameds?

If the effect lands and if the mob casts a spell Gut Roar works on, then it has a 100 % chance to counter the effect. That means technically the mob's spell will miss everyone. Taking the two "if"s the wrong 1 % descriptoin is not so wrong.

There's no log message when it lands, but it applies an effect to the mob. If the mob then actually casts a spell or uses a combat art to which Gut Roar applies, you get the yellow text pop-up message 'Countered' which is easy to miss. IIRC the log entry says "Mob X tries to slash you with Combat Art Y but you counter." It might just say "you resist", which would make it even harder to determine how helpful it is / isn't. I don't believe on AoEs that it will keep the effect from hitting everyone, I think only the berserker will be protected. If the mob's spell/CA that gets countered is an AE or AoE, everyone else will still be hit. I have no empirical data to support that. You can't control what spell uses it up. So I always assume it will get used up by some 300-damage CA, which the mob will then follow with another one for 15K.

In EoF I used it in the Inner Sanctum to counter the big AE/mana drain from the two vampires at 10 %. It it hit the mob, if it didn't counter a spell reflect, if it didn't counter a ignorable spell from the vampire it countered the complete effect on the whole raid. But if you count the "if"s you know that the "stun, stifle, burn" tactic worked a lot better. That's the only mobs I know where the spell works, afterwards I didn't bother anymore with the spell.
