View Full Version : UI messed up

Ever since this latest patch when I log out one toon and then log in another my UI resets to the default. I play with 6 hot bars up and I move the standard UI windows around. When I log in I am down to one hot bar and all the windiows are back to what I presume to be the default position. I move them all back and add the hot bars, lock them all in place and next time I play it is back to one hot bar and windows back to default. It happens when I log on new for the day or just when I change toons. No difference. And it happens EVERY time. At the suggestion of a friend I deleted my UI file in the EQ2 directory and then repatched and started over. No difference. This is really ticking me off. Every log in I have to reset all my UI windows and make new hot bars. What the heck is going on. I have put in about 6 bug reports and heard NOTHING. To add insult to injury every time I log in the Chat system acts like I have never been on before and it keeps adding NEW channels. Two of the same channels over and over. I have like 30 or more channels of the same two there. No response to bug there either. Please someone at least pretend you care and are listening.

Ok, well keep in mind that a /bug report is simply a note to the devs and QA that there's a problem with something and someone should put it on their to-do list to take a look at. Its not a personal petition for tech support. This is the place for that, which you've now done Several of us have had similar problems and there's a few threads with suggestions. Personally, I was only able to fix my UI by 1. logging in at character select and picking a character from there, then 2. using/leaveall and then using /load_uisettings and picking the UI from a toon that I knew was properly setup still. Then I do another /leaveall before rejoining the chat channels that I want in their proper order. Yes its a pain, but at least I can get my layout back without re-doing it over and over. Hopefully they'll track down the issue.

Sometimes the UI.ini files become corrupt. I would delete the files listed below, restart the game and repatch, then move your UI the way you want it, and then back it up ( just save it under a folder named UI_backup or something)Delete the following files and folders:cache foldereq2_recent.inieq2_default.iniEverQuest2.exee q2.ini
As well as the character specific files, these will appear as such:Servername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini
