Ok, I have a question about what stat is more important in a pure DPS role.

I have 812 Str Buffed, 605 Agi.

I'm using either a Truncheon of Doom or two Blessed Mahogany Fighting Baton's. I'll have the Hurricane and Epic (Fabled) soon.

When I'm picking out gear, should I be looking for +Dlb Attack Chance, +Attack Speed, or +Combat Art Damage? Which of those

three are more important to me.

My AA Spec is... Str: 0,0,0,0,0 Agi: 4, 8, 8, 2, 1 Stam: 0,0,0,0,0 Wis: 4, 8, 8, 3, 1 Int: 4, 8, 8, 0, 0

Currently I have +350 Combat Damage, +4 Attack Speed, +8 Melee Crit, +5 Damage Per Second, +8 Dlb Attack Chance. I have been stacking +Combat So Far.

Thanks

Ryku

After str Melee crit is absolutly vital. I'm around 46% crit and almost every combat art I throw out crits and my crane flock racks up super damage. After that I would say DPS mod and Double attack chance come up. I use HoS and Doomcoil baton for my weapons so for your 2hand hammer I would say Crit and DPS mod are vital after haste <which for monks is a non-issue>. I used to use the Claw Club in T7 and at 200 dps mod it would do stupid amounts of damage per hit and crane flock would almost rip agro off anything.

Can someone explain how +Combat Damage is added? Is it to all attacks, or just Autoattacks? Is it applied before or after other mods to damage. Is there a way to see how it's affecting your attacks?

Thanks

Ryku

No its +Combat Art Damage is adds to your Combat Arts, its +Spell Dmg for Melee Classes.DPS adds dmg to your Autoattack.

You can only add upto 50% of the min/max of the base combat art damage. So if your Frozen Palm base is 500-1000 damage you can add upto 250 min / 500 max combat art bonus making it range from 750-1500.

+dps mod effects Auto Attack stregnth and on big hammers like Truncheon of doom, Bone Crusher, or Supple Dogwood staff can add upto a LOT of extra damage added not to mention all 3 weapons can crit like a Rhino being dropped on a baby. The T7 Vraksen Claw Club with a coercer and dirge dps mods would crit around 2-5k a swing on average. Add in the double attack + aoe attack bonus of Crane Flock and it was a massive dps spike.

In order of importance I look for Crit->DA->DPS->Haste But as I collect new gear that tends to change. I now have my mythical and the ring from the sisters in SoH. When both proc self buffed I'm at 53%DA, 52%Crit, 55%DPS, 390+CA and 148Haste so I am pretty even when it comes to stats. One thing I noticed though is the more DA you get the less Crane Flock becomes effective.

Why value crit over double attack? Doesnt 1% crit add 0.3% damage, and 1% DA adds 1% extra damage?edit: I just reviewed the crits damage sticky in combat forum and realize that 0.3% gain (from 1% crit) is minimum you could gain. Still, a 3:1 weapon would only gain about 0.6% from 1% crit. Double attack still seems juicier.

Also Melee Crit effects your combat arts letting them Critical more as well. So not only do your auto attacks hit harder but your Combat Arts hit harder as well where as Double Attack only effects auto attack. Plus some of the 2 handers out there have crazy ratio's giving them a massive critical range, but I've always been a critical hit person over Double Attack but that could change if they remove the restrictions from the STR line.
