Hello Devs...

Before one of the mods moves this to the EQ2Players "support" forum, please at least read what I have to say. EQ2Players is BROKEN. It almost never updates, only once every few weeks. Leaderboards arent acting right and well, we need someone to A.) fix it and B.) Please give us some communication as to whats going on for this service we pay for.

Back when it was FREE - it updated daily (yes we remember that) and since we've been paying - we have had reduced functionality , bugs, and very infrequent updates.

Yes, before anyone flames me I know that, as a consumer, I have the right not to subscribe to the service. But Id rather support it, in the hopes that it gets fixed. Its an awesome addition to the game, if only we could get some more stability with it.

There have been two "purple names" who I presume are the Web Developers for EQ2Players.com. Neither has posted in some time.

One is SOE-Jabru - who last logged in on 4/01/08 and more recently (well, comparitively) we have seen Gninja_Gnome ,who last logged in two months ago. Since that time, not one thread has received a single web developer response.

I posted this HERE in the general gameplay forum in the hopes that a DEV may catch the title and at the very least investigate the issues and provide a little feedback.

Respectfully, some communication would be nice.

Thanks for your time.

I admire your positive attitude towards this failed project.

Wow. I've never seen a thread moved so fast. OP must have whiplash. You can tell when they want topics buried. This has been a problem for a long time. And I agree completely with the OP that I'd rather the problem get fixed rather than unsubscrobe. There is such a lack of suppurt sites as it is. And since SOE is going to be so tight-fisted with the info, the least they could do is maintain this site. SC

They can't do anything right now, they are busy moving topics.

Was thinking it might catch someone's eye and they might say "hmm whats going on over there?" but alas, no such luck. They generally just move threads when someone reports them, so the fast move was someone reporting the topic I am sure.

So now that we are here in the "appropriate" forum section (wasteland?) - how about it? Can we get some official voice chiming in on this?

??

EQ2 Players updates are a bit sporadic at times, but it works more often than not on the character profiles. Usually with a 24hour lag or so. I dinged a level last night around 10est and it now shows my current level. Of course the rankings still show me a level behind.

It should definitely be a bit more reliable as a paid service, though.

While I know it is against the forum rules, I can't say that I am against posting it where you did, Kaal. I very much agree with your opinion on supporting the site and we really need some attention here.It isn't even like we have non-specific gripes about the site. We have a stickied issues thread that shows what the issues are and their status. It has also been quite some time since a serious update to the site or an attempt to answer the issues about this paid service. However, I think it will only change with more feedback from the community. So many people have given up on the site being fixed that feedback in this forum has died down to a very dull roar compared to what it once was. Maybe people will see this and speak up again.

In doing a little digging with regards to Gninja_gnome - it looks like his (her?) account has been upgraded to red "Dev" status - that account - now called just "Gninja" is a red name - but has also only posted about 27 times since June - and none of those are here.

As to the other poster above, Im glad YOU are getting somewhat regular updates, many of us are not. Many in my guild havent updated since July 22.

Would have been nice if the person that moved the thread would have responded to it, eh? And the fact that devs are logging in maybe once every two months, that's starting to show jsut how much they appeaer to care about EQ2Players and their customer base (that insures their salaries, by the way) in general.

Keep in mind that forum moderators (orange), game developers (red), and the web team (purple) are three totally separate entities. Mods and devs *could* reply, but I doubt they'd be able to give you any information you don't already have.

I'm right there with you...I'm as frustrated as the next guy about the sad state of many EQ2Players.com features and I'd love for someone actually talk to us -- or better yet, WITH us -- about what's going on with the site.

That being said, I for one don't go to the General Gameplay forum to talk about EQ2Players.com (or, y'know, at all), so moving it to this forum isn't "burying it" with the intention of hiding it. This really is the best place for it.

Yeah, Gninja is no longer involved with the web development, he's joined the EQ2 development team a few months ago (as an associate designer I believe or something like that). He logs on a different account now (a red one), hence the old purple one seeming inactive.Did anyone take his place on the web development team? Your guess is as good as mine. The sarcastics might say that there never was a team to begin with...Seagoat, there is one group of people however who should get involved in this, and it's the community representatives. They have recruited a lot of them recently. Part of their job (AFAIK, at least when not busy filling the non-gameplay related forum with... stuff...) is to act as liaison between SOE and us, the players. This is an issue the players have been unhappy about for a long time, and we're not talking about game mechanics or balancing things there - we're talking about broken services.

Yeah, Gninja has changed roles and is most likely not involved with EQ2Players anymore. While I think it will be good for the game, I weep for the EQ2Players development, as he is the only communication we have had with the web team in ages.I also know that this web team is involved in other SOE game sites other than EQ2Players. I wonder if they think the bulk of fixing EQ2Players is already complete and are focusing on other sites? If so, I beg to differ.

It gets better. Jabru hasn't logged in since April 1.

Now you see why Grue and I have simply given up any hope of seeing EQ2Players ever getting a level of reliability anywhere close to what a fansite even offers. SOE is obviously not considering EQ2Players to be anything important, and are devoting a minimum of resources to ensure that it runs.According to my latest RosterMaster log, our whole guild roster hasn't updated since July 31st. But since the last time I tried to provide any form of stats as to the frequency of EQ2Players updates, my data was dismissed because "we do not support Rostermaster". So, I just no longer bother, or even care there - it would just be a waste of energy on my part. All I can do now is brace for whatever additional ridiculous changes SOE will bring to their web platform with the next expansion. Historically, every new expansions saw more features removed or broken. I wouldn't put it past them to simply scrap the whole thing since they can't (or won't invest the resources needed for) get it working reliably.

I have been informed that there are some updates going into the Eq2players site, and there will probably be a delay on updating stats and such for the time being. No ETA has been given just yet. - TSR-TrevorG (in the stickied post above)

I wonder if this means that they're A.) adding new features B.) fixing the problem or C.) dont know what we are talking about..... Anyone see anything different today? My character says I still havent played since July 22 (in spite of playing daily since then)

New features (and feature removal) typically happen at the same time expansions get launched.
