Salesman's Crate question

I've got 'Ironwood Salesman's Crate' and when I right-click on it, choose Use, it says 'Store not currently open'. How do I open a store? How can I place the crate in the house?

place a market board on a wall in your houseclick market board and select selldrag salesmans crate to a empty slot on the marketboard pageright-click salesman crate (in slot) and select 'Place' to give it an actual in-house location

<p>Short and sweet version:</p><p>1. Salesman's crates are a type of sales display. Sales displays are containers intended to make selling stuff from easier. They are NOT meant to be used as storage containers for your inventory or bank slots and will as you found out not allow themselves to be used as containers in those contexts.</p><p>2. In order to make the most of a sales display, you need to own a house with a market bulletin board. Without these, you can still use the display to hold your wares on a broker, but you will not be able to let people bypass the broker's fee.</p><p>EDIT: and a poster above described how to deploy a sales display when you do have a house and market board set up.</p>
