For example if i type the letter "v" it will paste what is on the clip board. When i backspace to get rid of a character, it erases the whole word. I even had it where if i clicked on a link to view it (to an item) it would just link it again instead of showing what the item is. I use profit UI, ive heard other people with this problem I dont know if it's profit or not?

Have you uninstalled or reverted back to the default UI yet?

yeah give a try by doing the following in chat.type /loaduiselect default, then ok.see if that changes things for you. You may need to log out and then log back into the game as well.

Ahh I posted on the profit forums and gm9 (the creator) said it's not a UI problem, and someone else posted as having the same problem, and its not just ctrl, it's also alt and shift. Which seems to be true for me also now that i think of it. Also I forgot to mention that this problem ONLY happens in the game, meaning i can type V outside of the game fine on a notepad and it won't paste everything on the clipboard. This started happening for me since the LU but i've heard a report that someone had this problem before the LU aswell. SO looks like we have a new bug ><.edit: Also I can log out(completely exit game, camping to char select will not work). And it will fix it for maybe a half hour or so and then the problem comes back.edit part 2: Here is the post from the other user: "I've been noticing this lately with everything from ctrl to alt to shift. But it only seems to be doing it in the context of game actions (i.e. stuck shift will make clicking spell icons toss a link, but not make you type in all caps). I'm wondering if those late patch notes mention about the alt key getting stuck has to do with ctrl and shift as well. It only mentions alt in the context of alt-tabbing, but if alt is getting stuck I see no reason why shift and ctrl couldn't be..."

This problem is still happening, pretty annoying. I disabled my key binding for the voice chat and it didn't effect it. Another guildie of mine has the problem now too...

There was a bug in the last GU that was causing this to happen, but it was identified and hotfixed out last week. If you are still having this problem, do you know of any way to force it to happen? I've been having trouble reproducing this after the fix (read: I have not been able to). I will keep trying, but if someone knows a surefire way to make this happen it would help me greatly.~Z

It doesn't seem like you can reproduce it on demand, it only tends to happens for me when i go into walk mode shift+r. I'll then go to like send a tell or reply using the shortcut "t" or "r" and it won't do anything, i can get it back to normal quite easily though by just hitting shift a few times. I thought it was my keyboard going then the shift at the otherside did it, and when i say other side i never touch my right hand shift but until i pressed it, the game wouldnt respond properly.

It seems if you are holding the voice key and using other keys it will stick one of your other keys. It doesn't happen often, it's hard to tell what causes it, but the last 2 times I've had it flake on me, one of my arrow keys will get stuck (usually while in combat) and the camera just spins around me in circles until I fully exit the game. After that it usually won't happen again for a day or two. I have the delete key above the arrow keys (off to the right of the backspace/enter, but not on the numberpad) bound for PTT.

Also happens even if you don't touch the keyboard. When I logged on earlier today I started to buff up right away and didn't press a single key before I got this error.

I don't know if ACT is causing it maybe? with the constant changing of the clipboard? I dont ever play w/o it on though, so..I just had the problem, and hit CTRL a few times, and it fixes it, it'll return to buggy 10 mins later.

I've also noticed that my mouse is flaking out a bit, in that drag and drop operations in the UI (I don't use any UI mods at all) tend to get interrupted. For example, if I click and hold an item from inventory and try to move it from one back pack to another, it seems that the UI gets the idea that the lbutton was released while dragging. This behavior doesn't seem to be an issue with other programs or the OS.

It's possible that I just need a new mouse, but the change seemed to be a sudden behavior after the last GU ( 47 ) and only occurs in EQ2, so I thought I would mention it. It's an annoyance only of course, but the kind of annoyance that can get to be a real hair-puller after a while. Before I go get a new trackball (Logitech trackman+) I was wondering if this was a UI issue.

Next time you get this issue can you try alt-tabbing out of and back into EQ2 and see if that clears up the problem?I am trying to narrow down where in the input control code this is happening, and without being able to reproduce it, it is a little squirrelly.~Z

I wonder if this is related to the bug I've run into, where modifier keys are processed at a different time than the main keys. If the game is (client-side) lagging, then the game seems to use whatever modifiers were present when it "catchs up", rather than what was pressed with the key. ie if I press abc (shift_down) def (shift_up) hij, you'd expect "abcDEFhij", but if the client is lagging I would expect "abcdefhij". If I had been holding shift at the end when the game 'caught up' (say, in prep for using a hotbar ability), then it would've come out as "ABCDEFHIJ". When lagging, the modifiers used at time of keypress are irrelevent, only the modifiers present when the game 'catchs up' matter. Without client-side lag, it behaves normally./Something/ about the way EQ2 processes modifier keys (ctrl, shift, alt) is definitely funky ....

This has happened to me twice. Alt-tabbing did fix the issue.

Has anyone found a definitive fix for this problem yet? I'd really like to be able to group and chat with people again without the threat of getting hosed up, and having to ALT-TAB out of EQ2 and back in inthe middle of a battle. It's not condusive to keeping my character alive...

No, I have no other GUI installed - just stock gear here

I'm using the default UI (+ eq2map) and have witnessed this problem as well on both SHIFT and CTRL. Typically eq2 is the only program running on the computer I use.

I had thought it was maybe due to my wireless keyboard signal as hitting the shift or ctrl key a few times clears it up.
