I guess this question would fit in here, anyway... who is Freethinker Sphinx? I saw him standing at the edge of a cliff as I was on the boat departing from Antonica. When I approached him, he threw a smoke bomb and vanished. What story is he part of?

He is part of the events dealing with the new guild halls. Occasionally, near the Qeynos Gate griffon tower you can see a member of the Royal Antonican Guard. His name is Commander Vincent something. He doesn't say anything if you hail him, but he does go to the lighthouse and talk to the workers inside. During his conversation they mention that someone has been watching the construction and the knight recognizes him as a member of the League of Freethinkers. I am not sure if there is more to this than these two NPCs and it never states what the league's interest in the construction might be.

My guess is that the League knows about the adventurers recent pact with Mayong, and are monitoring us rather closely at present. after all, they wouldn't want mayong to have a virtual fortress just off the coast of allies to pit against Freeport/Qeynos.

Tools and suplies are on the island. Have fun! hahaha!"

if you stay at the docks the same luclinc knight from the building of the darklight tunnle will walk out from the docks to the head contractor who also happens to be the one from the darklight tunnle project. and they have a bit of talk about how this construction better work out better then the last project did or there will be consiquinces.

I took a break from killing Void Tempests to check this out, and noticed another new NPC, Ghil Ventur. If you hail him he asks, "How can I help you?" but the only reply option is "It's nothing. Sorry to bother you."I note him because when no one is talking to him, he default facing is directly towards Freethinker Sphinx. Watching the watcher, I guess. And having an actual reply to click rather than just a /say indicates to me he's going to be involved in a quest line somewhere around here.

When I'm crafting it can be hard to type I lost one combine trying to keep up with the text lore lolBack on Topic, does he vanish when someone with faction with the Freethinkers approaches him? (the one I approached him with had none)

Ghil Ventur has been there for quite a while and is a relic. Ghil Ventur used to provide the quest to Qeynosians that allowed a person to choose their bind zone before everyone just got that ability anyway. My guess is we'll see this little story unfolding possibly next update or at least developing a little more.

I didn't realise the Freethinkers were such a wide network, their main goals are taking down mayong right? Or don't we really know?

He pulled one of those Smoke bombs on Klornie too and she has some positive faction with the Freethinkers.. I vagually toyed with pulling one of the smoke bombs from the SoS Questlines to see if I ended up the same place as him but I fugured that it was not likely to happen.

It just happens to be that the majority of them are vampire hunters.

Probably a lot less diabolical then the illuminati. Maybe the early Knight's Templar or the Knights of the ROund Table would be closer. I'll probably think of a better example later on.

Ghil Venture is involved in the quest "The Legendary Paper" which is the crafting quest for sages from the Isle of Mara. He has been there since the introduction of that adventure pack.
