In the recent developer chat on July 31, someone asked the current state of Odus. The answer was this:Ilucide: Not much anyone can say about Odus since the Erudites' magical malfunction with the Combine Spires and Odus' subsequent disappearance from the face of Norrath. But who knows? Maybe one day it will come back. One thing's for sure - there's no telling what may have happened to the place in its travels...I may be rusty on my lore concerning Odus; I knew a major magical disaster happened there but from the way it sounds, it disapeared completly? "Theres no telling what may have happened to the place on its travels" suggests that Odus is mobile now after that event. Could it be in the sky like KoS (huge Euridite population was up there)? Maybe what happened to the continent is old news and I'm behind the times but that statement just peaked my curiosity.

There were spires in Tox. Could be the Erudites were poking around in things they shouldn't again, a la the Hole, and sent themselves into orbit or were relocated to another plane. If anyone could do it, I could see the Erudites doing it.

Did this event occurred after the Erudite's transformation? I assuming it is.

Also I had an image in my head of Odus re-materializing in middle of the Nexus and causing the moon to explode.

At least Ilucide did said that maybe one day it'll come back, so it didn't transported to Luclin. Inside the moon, anyway. A set of Combine Spires is on Odus, all right, and I guess the Erudite's tampering with teleportation enabled the continent to "port" because the spires are attached to it.

They blew up the hole and it sucked Odus into the Void. o_O Now it's hurling around the Void, and it was the giant rock Everling saw while he was in there during his travels. It sounds far fetched but considering how the Void has ties into everything in this game I wouldn't be surprised. LoL.

Well, if they had an accident similar in magnitude to the one that created The Hole then its possible that Odus could be anywhere and anywhen. There isn't anything to say it went into any particular plane. It could be in the Void, but I somehow doubt that. It could of blown the Hole open and caused it to launch into the Underfoot. It could of created its own pocket dimension.

All in all, its more interesting than just thinking "Oh, its just undiscovered country".

When we discovered it was involving the Void that's the first thing I thought and said, that Odus is in the Void. Now, this of course is very wishful thinking on my part and I can't tell you how many times I got told I was wrong or didn't know what I was talking about but seeing it was speculation, mine was no less valid than anyone elses. Seeing Illucide's comment on the subject, I can now hold my head up high and say that, maybe I had my finger a lot closer to the right button than those who mocked me did. Not saying I've always been right mind you, but at least my speculation can't be so easily brushed aside anymore until Fan Faire and we get absolute confirmation on what the next expansion completely involves.

While working on a way to recreate and contain the powerful magics that created The Hole, the newly-allied Quellithulian Erudites had a slip-up that once again released these magics into their citadel and the nearby lands. They and their surroundings were ported through both time and space, and they found themselves in a different dimension, on a different planet, in a place that the local population called the Rhine Valley. While working on a way back, boredom began to set in so the Erudites began to challenge the local populace to friendly games of "Destroy the Melon with Arcane Fire" and "Move the Fork with your Mind." After seeing how magically inept the locals were, the Erudites realized that they were once again the superior race on a planet and surrounded by imbeciles... so they decided to conquer everyone. They underestimated the strength of numbers that would be used against them, though, and were almost beaten. They were saved when a portal was opened to the Void, and they all jumped in at the last second. In The Shadow Odyssey, we will get to meet the travelling Erudites. We will also get a taste of some of the artifacts they brought back from their journeys in the Epic 2.0 questlines:

This story line sounds exactly like the underlying theme to an old Dungeons and Dragons book based in the Mystara universe.Dragonlord ChroniclesJust without the Epic 2.0 items lol.

I like the idea of this new expansion having to do with Odus. As someone said above, they believed that Odus was transported to the Void. This would actually make a pretty decent storyline if we're getting another high-level expansion. The Erudites need our help taking back their homeland from the void creatures. This could make Paneel or Erudin be the big end zone, in the same cloth as (Kl)Ak'anon, Kaladim, etc, only be lvl 80,90, or whatever the lvl cap will be after this one, instead of being a mid lvl dungeon. There might still be some non-transformed Erudites running around, and perhaps some Kerra who, dispite their history, teamed up with the Erudites to try and get Odus back.Just my two cents. I like the idea (and my main is a Erudite), lol

Only the undead weren't affected (see Unrest. Human models were used to simulate old erudites.)

Wasn't there a quellithulian Erudite in Barren Sky that teleported back to Odus after you complete his quest line? That would imply there is already a way, for them at least, to travel back and forth to wherever Odus is.When we do find them I hope they are accpeting of regular old school Quellious worshiping Erudites, unlike those crazies working for the Awakened.

I think the ones up in KoS are just a faction.

I forget, did they ever reveal WHY they came to Norath propper out of isolation to deal with the regluar foke? I mean they came, they meddled, but still kept their whereabouts secret.

now i wonder what happened to that little isle near odus. the one with the kerra population on it. i remember swiming to it in eq1 and getting chased alot lol. anyway it my 2 cents. It never said that some of the poeple did not make it off odus before it left this when/where (quellithulian Erudites) and since poeple are talking about time who knows how long its been were it is or maybe it will pop into existance next to kunark tomorrow. well either way i been hoping for something with odus since expansion 1 it was my fav place, spent alot of time there with mt erudite necro when the warrens came out in eq1 with all the kobolds.
