Well basically through playing lots of WoW, I have discovered that I prefer support classes and the less common classes/builds. I didn't like being 1 of 99878879977899 rogues out there, and I loved being a wanted healer or tank. I also loved being less conventional and less cookie cutter, but still viable at the same time. Eventually the healer became my main in WoW because for some reason I enjoyed being more of a support/buffer but the content in that game became boring and now I have arrived here in eq2!!!!!!With that said, I am curious if troubs are an under-played and less seen class. If troubs are support but still capable of doing some damage (at least more than a healer). And if you guys find leveling to 80 and grouping along the way and raiding at 80 enjoyable as a troub. Now don't say I should roll a healer if I like support. Sick of healing non-stop even though i did it for a little over a year. Wanted a change and instead of rerolling in WoW I came to eq2. Also I just HATED being useless on my own as a healer. I love grouping and will always prefer to group, but sometimes there just aren't any, and I was totally useless and absolutely hated it...So tell me if the Troubadour class could be right for me. Also my friend was thinking a Troub/Wiz combo would be dope (I will be duoing with him all the time). He wants to be any DPS class, and from what I've read a Troub sounds like fun

I've recently rolled a Troub and am enjoying playing the class so far (level 27, so not too far into the game). If you're looking to play a support class with some survivability, then a troubador does fit the bill. However, I personally think you'll struggle with a troub/wiz combo in the early days. The problem would be the wiz grabbing the aggro and dying a lot (which wizards do anyway) because of being a cloth wearer. You'd be better off being something like a Fury (a healer with decent damage capabilities), or maybe a Brig/Swash (i.e. not a tank, but a class that can tank). Alternatively, perhaps your friend might consider an alternative class such as an assassin? Then the aggro situation wouldn't matter so much.

<p>Troub and wizzy combo would be fun, IMO. Troubs are not as bad at all as other people claim, it all boils down to play style.</p><p>You wont be topping the charts on the DPS list, but the buffs and debuffs you bring to the table are top notch. Add to it a Well Played and well geared troub can still pump out some numbers. Im far from well geared and breaking 3k consistantly now on our parses. The hardcore troubs are breaking 4k consistently.</p><p>As far as duoing with the wizard, as soon as you get your deaggro song, play the song, then unclick the buff from yourself (but not your maintained). That will keep the deaggro on the wizzy but not you.</p>

<p>Like the last poster said, that duo is going to struggle.. Wizzard has high dps, boost it with troubbie buffs and you aren't going to havea prayer of getting the aggro off him. Even if you survive the pulls your going to have a fair bit of downtime. </p><p>Ideally you want a class thats going to fully benefit from your buffs. That rules out melee classes. I'd personally suggest your buddy rolls a <b>coercer</b>. They have recently gotten alot of love and capable of pretty high dps, and nice crowd control. Even better their spell damage is mental based and will recieve the full benefit of your mental resist debuffs. This is the pairing that really stands out for me. </p><p>My next choice would be someone with healing ability, but also offensive spell casting capabilities. Here you could go <b>fury</b> or<b> warden</b> maybe even <b>conjy</b> or <b>defiler</b>.. </p>

It looks like I'm rolling a Troub and duoing with a coercer.Any tips on AA's? also how much effort should I put into obtaining MC gear? should I just use quest rewards primarily?

On AAs, have a read of some of the threads on the first page in this section as there are a few explanations out there already (e.g. <a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=360325" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">linky).</a>On the subject of master crafted; over the years I formed the opinion that master crafted was a must for soloing (for my play style). The stats & mitigation were far better than any treasured I could buy. However, GU47 has a revamp of the old treasured gear so I think that maybe the treasured may be okay for a duo (but I am saying that without actually seeing any of the gear as the update is not yet on the UK servers). However, if the progression of gear remains true, then MC will be better than Treasured so look for an upgrade <i>if</i> you find youself struggling.Guess I'm suggesting you use the "suck it and see" methodology! <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

Troub/Coercer rocks no question. You both help each other huge and Coercers jack a lot of damage since the revamp. My GF and I are Troub/Coercer and we kill Heroic content easily.

I'm interested in the 3k DPS you're putting out. My troub on Naggy is geared out "OK" (our guild has only just killed the first name in VP), I'm parsing up to 2k DPS on instance level mobs, but definitely not that amount zone-wide.</p><p>The kind of gear I have presently includes : Epic weap, betrayals song (trying from marrows from SoH), PvP chest, Lyrist leggings (mob outside CoA), Tormented Bracelet of Doom, Thugga +spell crit, etc</p><p>It's great to see a little more activity on the Troub forum of late, and helpful to talk strats between those that play the class.</p><p>For the original poster, I think you'll do extremely well with that combo - especially starting off, the mobs will drop really easily - and as the troub you should be able to solo names/farm for masters without much hassle. I found levelling the troub very easy, and particularly offering up / forming groups on Naggy resulted in frequent instance runs. Best of luck to you both in that respect.</p><p> Edited : To include a couple of bits of equip I have for a little more clarity.</p>

<p>Naruchan's gear is not too horrid actually. no vp set peices yet, but pretty good jewlrey. Our force just finally got by druushk, so i got my mythical, and use betrayals song in offhand. Broke 4.2k for the first time on mobs in SoH(not raidwide, just highest raid mob trash parse for me). i was excited.</p><p>Here is naruchan's gear-> <a rel="nofollow" href="http://eq2players.station.sony.com/characters/character_profile.vm?characterId=627725205" target="_blank">Naruchan</a></p><p>Come raid time however, i always do what i can to increase my dps, mainly potions and oilstones(15 dps mod)</p><p>AA's are wis/sta/int line. i go int only because we do NOT often get an illusionist in our group, so me and other scouts in the group benefit from the bonus to haste.</p>
