Well, I bought a ATI Radeon HD 4850 a few weeks ago, and just resubbed to EQ2 yesterday, drooling with anticipation on how the game would look.

Load up everything, but for some reason, I have my graphics set to High performance, and the game is sometimes choppy. Thinking this can't be right, I came to these forums in search of answers.

I was looking through some threads, and a fellow poster commented on how ATI released a hotfix for the 4800 series, which would increase stability and performance. The link is here.

After I downloaded them all, I noticed two weird folders that popped up that were a bunch of random numbers and letters. They both showed up in my C drive.

They kind of have me paranoid, but maybe I did something wrong during the install? I just downloaded the file and ran it, without uninstalling anything.

first of all, download catalyst 8.7, http://ati.amd.com/support/driver.html

then it would be nice to know the rest of your system, if you have a slow cpu its most likely because of that the game is choppy, as this game is highly dependant on your cpu.

the folders i dunno about, maybe some temp folders that didnt get deleted?

Thanks for the reply, but it seems that hotfix fixed my performance issue.
