A quick question for those who know:Spell effects for Wizard spells, how are they?I have a lvl 20 Wizard at the moment, and I'm trying to decide between Wizard and Warlock. I don't raid, casual gamer, lots of solo, basically just looking for a fun class to level with casually. So, flashy stuff is important to me.Are the spell effects at 20 as good as it gets? Damage and effects increacing, but effect the same? Are there very many neat looking wizard spells? I've looked at warlock to about lvl 10 and I kinda like the effect for those spells, mainly because they actually have a projectile that goes toward the enemy. What are your opinions on the spell effects? Thanks.

Gilthenin wrote:
What are your opinions on the spell effects? Thanks.
That you should pick a class you enjoy the mechanics and style of. Seems you have already done that by narrowing down wizard/warlock but honestly spell effects will get old by the time you hit 20 and I can't even fathom or comprehend factoring in the colors my class generates when deciding something I'm going to be playing for possibly quite a while. All mages have flashy spell effects. Which usually leads me to turning spell spell results to zero if I find myself in a group of people lol, gets to be too much that I can't see whats goin on =p.Sry if i come accross a bit harsh but, it's like picking a car based on its color and rims, not is make and model. You will enjoy your aesthetic choice for a very short time until you realize you have to truly enjoy the core of your product first, then the aesthetics.

I know, sounds silly but hey.I'm a casual gamer, RPer, etc. Numbers don't matter so much, top of the food chain doesn't matter so much.I'm just looking for a class that is fun to play ( I know that's a total opinion thing, but that's what I'm looking for from folks ) and one of the things that I need is to not go nuts playing a character for hours. Something nice to look at.I've seen the bolt from the sky, fire from the ground, flaming axe, falling ice, is that about it? Any others I'm missing?Seems shallow to some, but I'm a visuals kinda guy.

How about this, just get 3 accounts, 3 PC's, lvl them to 20 and setup macros so they rotate through their self buffs and you can watch a trio of toons produce colors all day long. A class being fun to play and the colors they generate have no correlation. You can have the prettiest colors but if you don't enjoy the class the colors arn't going to compensate as fun factor, so i'm really not sure what your asking. Just try different toons and see what fits your style. I think a sorcerer is fun to play, others think sorceres suck and fighters are fun to play, I think priests are horrible to play...its all just useless opinions. Then again if your class gets boring you can always go kill lvl 1 mobs and make colors!Nothing wrong with visuals but, you said it yourself, its a shallow element of a game. Crysis kept me playing for 3 weeks or so till the game-play prevailed as being un-fun and the graphics just were not amazing me on day 22. I feel like im setting you up to fail by focusing in of particle effects when suggesting advice of what to play. I mean if you want visual just go run 3Dmark on loop all day, not sure what you are trying to get out of this game, what your seeking, or if you even play when you log in.

Ok man honestly, if the question bugged you that much... just don't answer.I was asking what higher level spells looked like, and if visuals were not important we would be playing EQ1. Really man, c'mon. In case you didn't notice my join date under my forum name I didn't pick up the game yesterday.I asked for opinions not to get spoken down to. So you don't think spell effects/graphics are important, ok I get that. I play the game for the atmosphere and the 'feel' of the game. A big part of that is what I see around me, seeing that I'm about to dedicate so much time. Gameplay is important, yes I enjoy Sorcerers so far, but I'm not one of those that sets settings to min to get the uber gameplay.Sheesh man, you don't agree fine. Different strokes for different folks.

Super lame responses. I can't really fathom how people actually got offended by this question.I'm a casual gaming alt-aholic that just recently returned and hasn't levelled higher than 20 myself, so I can't give an opinon. However, I suggest you do some Youtube queries. I think posting dungeon crawl videos from EQ2 was all the rage a couple of years ago. There has to be a couple of wizzy vids in there somewhere.EDIT: I should add that scaling spell effects was something that was done really well in EQ1 I thought. Over time new colors entered into the same spell line to really impress upon me the feeling that my toon was inreasing in power as I grew.
Visual spell effects mostly stay the same as you progress. You will get some more cool effects later on (Fission, Glacialshield, Forge of Ro and so on). Your dumbfire pet will get nice visual upgrade for sure. Wizard is great class, go and enjoy the Power!
