Does anyone have a problem with the ATI hd 3870 looking very washed out.

The game runs great but no matter how much I adjust brightness, gamma and all those other settings the color just looks washed out and looks like crap compared to my 7950 GT!

I have the exact same settings on two machines. One has the 3870 and the other has the 7950 GT. There is absolutely no comparison between the two. The ATI 3870 looks terrible compared to the 7950 GT. Detail, color, brightness there seems to be no fix I can find! If anyone has their ATI 3870 looking great in EQ2 please tell me your secret!

Thanks!

It's possible that the problem is related to a brightness or contrast setting in the ATI Control Panel (or whatever it's called) or on the monitor itself.Josh

Are you running a custom user interface on that machine? I know some of them have a 'night vision' mode that will cause the game to have the washed out look you're referring to. If you are, you may want to see that night vision isn't enabled.

No custom User interface.

I put my 7950 GT in and the problem went away. The best way I can describe the problem is the colors are not Vibrant like they are on the 7950 GT.

The ATI HD 3870 has a far inferior picture quality!

Runs great just doesnt show the Vibrant colors like the NVIDIA. I checked this on two different monitors so I know that isnt the problem.

FYI- running a Dell 24" monitor and also a samsung 20" monitor!

To be honest I am a picture quality freak so I will just switch back to the 7950 GT it performs the same in EQ2 as the ati 3870 anyhow!

Dissapointed with the ATI picture quality though!

This was also off a fresh install of windows xp home with all the updates, latest drivers, blah , blah, blah!

When you put in the new cards, how did you go about removing the old drivers?Did you use the ATI software or just the drivers?Usually I recomend not using the software and only install the drivers. Maybe in your case though, the software should be installed for that card.
