Well your system is definatley in good shape. One odd thing I noticed, which may be working well for you though, is that the windows directrory is on your J drive.Have you checked the page file for the J driver at all? Maybe resetting this to System managed for the J driv instead of the C.Do you have any other games having issues?

Still having problems. After playing for a while, the game crashes with the same message as above plus this time I got an additional message:Runtime error!Program:j:/program files/sony/everquest2.exeThis application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way. Please contact the applications support team for more info.TrevorG,I am not realy sure what you are meaning. I am pretty computer illiterate, sorry. My hard drive is listing as the j:drive instead of the C:drive, is this what you are talking about? This is a brand new computer, They sent it without windows installed which I had to do. Is it the case that I did not optimize something correctly?Thank you for the help in advanced.

You can go to this link and download this hotfix. It might solve the Runtime error problem.http://support.microsoft.com/hotfix...&kbln=en-usAlternatively, it's probably part of a Windows Update. If you've only recently installed Windows, you might not have downloaded all the Update patches, yet.If you're not totally updated, yet, I would strongly recommend it. Not only might it fix your EQ2 issue, but the security fixes, etc. are totally worth it. It looks like you have Service Pack 3, so you're probably mostly up to date, but this hotfix might've been an optional patch.Anyway, let me know if this helps The Runtime error might be a separate and unrelated issue.Josh

Well, no joy.Played for about an hour and when I got back to Freeport to repair my armor I crashed and got the same message. The thing that keeps concerning me is the memory message, why is it asking for 1048608 bytes and saying the limit is 2048mb and I only have 680 for use? Is it asking for Ram? If so there is 4gig in the machine. I am not understanding this at all.Frustrating.Thanks again for any help given

I'll try to explain this accurately. The 2048MB (2GB) has to do with the usual virtual memory limit for programs running on XP.Because XP is a 32-bit OS, it can only address a theoretical total of 4GB of memory. By default, it splits that 4GB in half, and gives 2GB to the OS, and 2GB max to any one program.EQ2 has a tendency to suck up a lot of memory and sometimes more than 2GB. That sounds like what is happening here.Anyway, there are some "fixes" that can let the program use more memory. Try this:Right click My Computer and click PropertiesGo to the Advanced tab and click "Settings" under Startup and RecoveryClick "Edit" under System Startup, which will allow you to edit the boot.ini file.Find the line that looks kinda like this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetectThen, add /3GB /PAE to the end so it now looks kinda like this: multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)WINDOWS="Microsoft Windows XP Professional" /fastdetect /3GB /PAESave your changes and reboot. That will allow EQ2 to use 3GB of memory, and also enable physical address extensions. You can also use the command "/force_low_mem_mode 1" in the EQ2 chat window. It forces the program to free up memory when it senses that you're getting low. If that seems to help, you can add it to the eq2.ini file (minus the forward slash) so you don't have to type it in every time you load the game. Also, if you're using any Maximum quality textures, you might want to turn them down to High. There's very little visual difference, but the Maximum quality textures use up more memory.Anyway, see if those help Josh

Thanks for the info Josh. There are somethings customers can post about systems that I cannot. Glad you guys are about.

Just want to say thank you to everyone for the help. Did some tweaking around with my video cards settings and with the game options today and I think I might have it fixed. The real test will be to go into a raid or a graphics intense zone and see what happens. Thanks again.
