I have an 80 conjy, 60 bruiser and 56 monk. I am thinking of leveling up an SK and was curious if people are generally happy with the class through the levels. I am not concerned with the end-game. Thanks for any thoughts.

I've always been happy with mine. I'm more of a caster/healer playstyle rather than a melee/fighter type. My zerk bored me to death and was deleted. My monk also bores me to death and languishes largely unplayed in the mid-50's.

But I always have fun when I take my SK out for a spin. And she's my 3rd highest level toon too at 75. I still don't play her all *that* often, but that's more becuz people like one of my healers or my coercer along more often than anything.

And don't let anyone tell you that they suck and can't hold aggro or whatever. I've *never* had aggro problems. And the only tank I've ever grouped with that's ever held aggro off my warlock going full ae burn was an SK -- yes, I pulled aggro off a paladin with Amends on me, but that SK -- couldn't do it. And with my SK I can keep aggro from lifeburning necros and manaburning wizards -- we got the hate tools, we just gotta use them.

I love my Sk granted he isnt my main but I have a lot of fun playing him. I have a lower level Pali and Guardian but just cant seem to get into them. I tend to duo my SK with a firend playing a warden and we do very well. I need to start grouping him more to see how well I can hold agro but so far I think I will do ok.

Being an SK isn't terrible, but it WILL try your patience. Leveling my SK was utter hell until I hit the mid 50's and he used to be my main. Unfortunately, there just isn't a niche for us in the end game that another class can't do better with less support. We are a very needy class compared to other tank types and that in itself can be frustrating. Soloing isn't a terrible pill to swallow with these guys, but isn't totally efficient. SKs seem to do well in small groups, but as the groups get larger we begin to loose our luster as damage, aggro management, and tankability (though not gawd aweful) doesn't seem to scale up as well as other classes do.

SKs are a challenging toon that'll keep you comming back for new and interesting ways to attack problems. The stigma you will face with them from the general player base is a bit excessive, so you will have to take responsibility for the fun you have with them. You'll be forced to lead most of your groups and be a convenient scapegoat as to why things went wrong with them. Experiences like that has made the SK comminity bitter for the most part and is only magnified when compared to other fighter classses. It's an uphill battle when you choose to be an SK, but if you're strong enough and don't mind a bit of adversity from time to time this might be the class for you.

I loved my SKs like nothing else in T7 .. but RoK really has destroyed the fun out of that class for me

Greatest fun as SK are really the KoS Zones when you have Tap Veins and Deathmarch and a lot of AoE Encounters

I have an SK alt that's almost to 50 and I find it to be a pretty sweet class. In fact, I think I'm gonna go play it right now.

Group encounters out the wazoo, our spells were scaled properly in relation to the mobs and to other classes, just all-round fun.

RoK is not fun for SKs.

If you are just playing a class for fun and have no intention of raiding with it, the SKs are very fun class.

its a fun class and it can be challenging at times. But at the higher levels it gets a bit frustrating, even in the group scene we have issues compared to other fighter classes due to agro, but we can do the job.

As you have stated that you have no end game intentions, the SK might be the right toon for you. The SK is a fun class to play with lots of flavour. You get to play as a spellcaster, plate tank, and melee fighter with an FD, all in one. Cool stuff

Level 60 to 70 will be a blast for you - SK's are UBER for tanking the KOS xpac zones. Multi-mob group encounters with our spells (Death March in particular) scaled to the content properly, SK's really shine in KOS zones like Nest, and Halls of Fate, and BG.

ROK at level 80 is not so much fun for an SK. Guardians in particular are amazingly powerful plate tank toons to play in ROK content. But if you tough it out, and put together a decent set of legendary equipment, with a full rank of AA's, and Adept 3 spell upgrades, you will eventually tank all of the content just fine

Enjoy!
