I've had somebody resolve the issue by updating sound and NIC drivers. You may wish to try this as well.

Any update on this issue? I went back to an older router that I know worked with EQ2 just before I quit to play vanguard...still crashing. I really want to come back to EQ2, but this is making it impossible.

It is strange my stystem can take every other game I can throw at it except EQ2.

Next test...Uninstalled Vista from a AMD 4000+ processor and installed XP. Turned off audio on m-board, used a different brand of NIC (NForce), only software on the system was XP, DX 9.0c, and drivers recommended by EQ2...Same problem!!!

I take it there is still no fix for this. I still havent had a responce from trevor after I sent what video card I got. I am buying a new computer and I am going to have a router so I can clone the mac address if this all doesnt work I am done with SOE so you better have a fix ASAP

Jugga,

I can't see that working, I've bypassed my router and I still get the same problem. It's like our ISP's are being blocked for some reason, I don't even get anything in the crash_log.

The thing is I have gotten to play when I used my friends wireless router and then when I cloned my Mac address using this software and then after playing for like 20mins I get a directx rendering error saying out of memory and then I cant get back into the game

I haven't been able to play for more than 30 seconds since TSO was released, and it seems lots of other people are having the same problem (as well as a myriad of others), and yet i haven't seen anything asides from make sure your drivers are up to date, turn off multi core support, set your sound to miles 2d etc etc. I understand it takes time to iron out expansions, get all the bugs out...but when it makes the game completely unplayable for weeks at a time for a substantial group of people, shouldn't we be enlightened a little bit as to what the problem is? Any ETA? Anything at all would be better than nothing.

I really enjoyed the game the last couple months, and would love to keep playing it. I don't mind downtime, or glitches, or a even a crash every now and then; but not paying for a Station Launcher that launches a character select screen that promptly crashes when i pick my character, and nothing more.

So is there an end in sight, or did I just waste my money on EQ2?

----------------------System Info------------------------- - Operating System: Vista 64 Ultimate(6.0, build 6001) - Processor: AMD Athlon 64 5000+ - Memory: 4094mb - Page File: 1838/6588 - Direct X Version: Dx10 - Video Card: Asus Eah3850 256mb - Video Card Driver Version: Catalyst 7.14(Tried newest version with same results)- Network card: Atheros L1 Gigabit Ethernet- NIC Drivers(version and date): 2.4.7.4(30/08/2007) - Sound Card: Realtek High Definition Audio - Sound Card Driver Version: 6.0.1.5464(10/08/07) - Motherboard make/model: Asus M3a - Bios version: 8.00.14(22/10/07) ----------------------Connection Info--------------------- - Connection Type: DSL, Wired via LAN - Internet Provider: IInet Technologies(Perth Australia) - Any ICS or routers: Belkin F5D5630au4 - Loading from zone to zone or start up: Start up, Gets to "Creating Entities" and sits for 30 or so seconds, followed by the character login screen and "Lost Connection to Server".

Now the tricky/annoying part is, it's definately not a router(NAT/hardware firewall) problem, a windows setting problem or an account problem as I have 2 pc's in the same room, running off the same router(no pc specific settings in router) with the same Install of Windows, Installed and Set up by the same person, namely me and both mine and my partners account work on the other PC but not this one I'm intrigued by your suggestion of changing sound card drivers as I cannot remember which game, but I've come across sound card drivers causing issues before.
