Hello all. My first post i know, been playing EQ2 for a while. So this lag situation is new.  Okay I start up EQ2 and everything is running fine.  this lag does not start till i decide to go to window mode to check up on quests or something in a browser or anything. outside of EQ2.  When i switch back to EQ2 i will now have this weird visual lag, let me describe:  When i start a fight i will usually send my tank pet in first, He'll just sit there for like 3 to 5 seconds and before he even reaches the mob i'll see the numbers of damage flying over the mob as if the fight has already begun.  After which the pet will begin to run towards the mob and attack it.  The mob will move to where it is suppose to be and then the fight just seems to slowly catch up.  When i cast my spells they seem to be on time and no lag but my timers and greying animations are behind. Note i can still cast alright. Now after the fight, whenever i run my pet is suppose to be right behind me.  But both my pet and my lil deity avatar guy are way behind me.  Only a full relog seems to correct this issue. This happens only when i alt enter or alt tab.  Please dont' say don't alt tab as i know this is an obvious solution but not one that really helps/fixes the problem.  If you need a direct x dialog please let me know. Thanks in advance.

So we know there is an issue with your PC and Everquest 2 when switching video modes.Have you tried to use the in-game browser (/browser) to look up quest information, or just start the game in full screen? What video card are you running, driver version.  Also I'm interested in your memory in the PC.You can find all this information in your DXDIAG<a href="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/posts/list.m?topic_id=353617" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=353617</a>

I have not tried the ingame browser yet, and i always start the game in full screen mode.As for my video card I'm using an Nvidia GeForce 6150 LE (yes it's onboard) and I'm not sure which you mean by memory so I'm gonna assume you mean the RAM as i don't think the memory available on the drive has anything to do with it, I got 1.93GB of Ram.  The game runs smoothly which is why it's confusing me. But I'll let you guys hazard a try at this situation.ps. as for that link was that a nudge to have me give you my DXdiag info?

Yeah it was. Ya caught me :pYou already answered my question with you video card type.  That will cause some issues as well. It was not designed to be a gaming card, and you will see a lack of performance on it.I used to play on an ATI 9100 back in '04-05.  I could not go beyond extreme performance, and thus had all sorts of graphics issues, and could not zone into places like Lavastorm.I suggest you upgrade to at the very least an ATI x1650 or NVIDIA 6800.

Okay done a little research and had my tech brother have a shot at this, from what i was able to describe to him, hes saying the problem seems to be more of a lag issue then a video card issue as the game itself as it is runs smooth, if all be it at the lowest setting (a newer card will fix that i know) .  However that still leaves the issue as it stands.  It appears as though the lag is only on one side.  Like i stated before everything runs at regular time, i click a button it reacts right away, i click a spell and it fires right off.  The monsters even seem to die at the right time (as soon as it runs out of health) the only thing that seems to be off is where my pets should be. kinda like i'm looking in the past a few seconds and seeing where they were instead of where they are. (note the word looking as in looking through a mirror but i'm reacting in real time, it's a confusing logic I'm aware)Also the sitution for whatever reason has gotten worse.  Not lag wise in a sense but now it seems to persist through log outs and logging in for the first time. Both full screen and regardless of settings and now even through multiple characters. I relieze in some cases this is a cosmetic thing but it is annoying and it can be bad if i try to go after a mob and i have to guess where it really is.  I've had to start doing like luke skywalker and not believe my eyes and just go with where i feel it is, and i'm no good at that at the moment.short run downSpells work fine and at real time.Combat arts work at real time.the coding for the pets run at real time. (coding is what i'm assuming tells where the pets or creatures really are in the world, i may have this term wrong but you get the point.)Talking to people works at real time.Selling items works at real time.monsters dies at the right point. The game runs smoothly, no choppyness (expcept in crowded areas but it's not related) talking and music run without issue. However where i see the pets is not rightWhere the monsters are is not correct. The countdown timer on spells seems to be off (like it will say i have 15 seconds till i can cast it, but when i que it, it will go off with like 4 seconds remainingAlso my countdown for logging out seems to be off, i will log out with 3 to 4 seconds remianing on that timer as well.  It will also start off with like 24 seconds right away instead of the normal 20 seconds.Ps. this has caused me sometimes to aggro something cause i thought i was far enough away but as the coding or whatever that tells where the mob really is, is different then what i'm seeing. I ended up not being far enough away. Didn't kill me but as you can see it does cause some issues beyond cosmetic. I'm gonna try and have my tech brother take a look at this from a first hand perspective on the weekend, but more then one source is better and i'm hoping any light on this can be shed, as i'm somewhat clueless what could be causing this as it doesn't appear to be any sort of lag i'm familer with. I"m also gonna try and see a different server. Just to see if it's lucin d'lere or something, which is the server i play on most.

I have this same issue (I think)....and it makes playing a scout difficult (ie. on my screen the mob has his back to me, but in reality it's already turned around...or has already moved too far away). The problem is really noticeable when opening doors. I click on the door, <i><b>hear</b></i> it opening, but there is a delay of several seconds before I <b><i>see</i></b> it opening on the screen.....I can, however, run through it immediately after clicking on it. I've tried changing nearly every display setting and going from extreme performance to extreme quality and none seem to have an effect. I am wondering if it's not a memory timing issue between my video and sound cards....I disabled my sound card once and the problem went away (door opened immediately when clicking on it)....but I can't bring myself to play with no sound. I've updated my drivers for video, sound, and BIOS to no avail. The odd thing is that it doesn't happen all the time, some days I can log in and everything is in sync and it'll remain that way for as long as I'm on. I know it's something on my end (I played for years with no issue on my old PC), I just can't figure out a way to fix it short of:a) Ditching Vista for XPb) Replacing the X-Fi with something elsec) all of the aboveI've run many other games on this system with absolutely no problems (Pirates of the Burning Sea, AoC, Mass Effect, and The Witcher to name just a few)...Anyone have any ideas for settings/tweaks that might help sync everything up? Or can maybe pinpoint where the problem lies?I'm running Vista Ultimate 32 bitIntel 3.0GHz Duo Core processor4GB RamNvidia GeForce 8800GTX-Fi Extreme Gamer

I have this same exact problem... at least, you describe exactly what I experience. Everything is fine in full-screen, but I get a 2-3 second delay in the graphics in windowed mode, whereby all spells, combat arts, event, etc occur regularly - I just see it all happen a few seconds later. It is not dependent on the zone I am in and it has nothing to do with the "normal" lag in heavily populated zones. The description of what happens when you click the door describes it perfectly: I can click the door and immediately go through it, but I have to wait 2-3 seconds to actually see the door open. Now, as a wizard, this is not "game-breaking" for me, but almost... in any case, it would be nice to know what is causing it and--if possible--how to solve the issue, as I have been plagued with it for several months now.My system:Processor: Intel Core2 CPU T7600 @ 2.33GHzMemory: 4GBOperating System: Vista 64 UltimateGraphics Card: NVidia GeForce Go 7950 GTXBTW, it used to be fine in both modes... I hope my graphics card is not shot (but why would it be, if it works just fine in fullscreen mode?).
