I'm about to start an erudite bruiser. In looking over the deity selections, Sol Ro jumped out at me. Yet having looked at things online, his benefits keep refering to fire spells. Since we use arts and not spells, are many of these deity benefits wasted? Or do they also works for our fire based arts?

On that note, what does Intelligence do for a Bruiser? Does the +Spell Damage gear provide us any other benefits?

Thanks for the help.

I assume this has to be a joke post as both erudite and Sol Ro happen to be one of the worst setup's for a bruiser... if not the worst.

Int is the only stat that really isn't used at all for a bruiser. Heck I would say go wisdom before you do that... atleast you would get higher resists out of it

Euridite Bruiser is a complete mockary of all things Bruiser-ish. Sol Ro is not a good diety for a bruiser. Generally speaking, a bruiser should go with the Tribunal, or Rallos Zek..... or if your really fancy, you could start as a monk, get Marr as your diety and THEN betray.... though I'm not sure how good marr is for blessings/miracle, but his cloak is pretty nice.

Now the only good thing about being a euridite bruiser is the casting speed reduction. Although it's fairly minor, you shoudl be able to use yoru CA's just a little bit faster than other races.... and I mean a little bit. Instead of a .5 second cast time for CA's, you'd have a .475 cast time. That isn't much but could potentially give you one extra proc from knockout.

Mock my character set up if you wish. I happen to like the erudite race and think it would be interesting to try on a bruiser. The racial special abilities would be fun and the starting stats are rather meaningless in the later levels.

I've usually playing scouts and know that they still use Intelligence for poisons. I've also read claims that spell damage gear also affects poisons. Then I read a Brawler guide on another site mentioning Int being useful for spell damage, which provoked my inquiry.

So though it wasn't directly answered, my assumption is correct that Sol Ro's abilities don't translate to combat arts?

(And talk about being a bit abrassive. If all responses to inquiries by the uninformed are met with this kind of attitude, it's a wonder that players new to bruisers would ever ask questions here in the first place.)

I guess it wasn't a joke then

The only thing that I could see int helping with and this is a big maybe would be the dot that is on Blaze Kick.

I don't see Erudite getting a racial dot either like the Iksar do, so I don't see Int being used for anything honestly. Spell damage doesn't have an impact either except again for maybe Blaze Kick. Just Erudites are designed to be casters for the most part, but anything is possible.

Good luck!

Well, I see that you're a co-guild leader, and you've expressed at least passing concern that the bonuses granted by Sol Ro could be wasted. So, if such things are of great concern to you, you might want to rethink this race/diety combination.

However, if you really just want an Erudite Bruiser, then roll it and have fun. Want to worship Sol Ro, go for it. Boost your intelligence, and get back to us with some numbers regarding how much of an increase in proc damage you see. I for one would be curious.

My main is a Half-Elf Brigand who worships Cazic-Thule. It's actually worked out really well, even though the deity choice wasn't a traditional choice. So I'm not afraid to play a non-traditional set up.

An erudite bruiser has already been decided on. My issue was the deity choice. I loathe Sol Ro's stupid Imp buff (from an appearance stand point.) So the religion's only real selling point was the amount of perks towards heat attacks. But now that you've all confirmed that they don't translate in a bruiser's favor, the deity doesn't seem desireable.

Edit: Considering that I wanted to run the character with a samurai style of honor, I've decided on the Tribunal. The perks seem nice and it fits thematically with my concept.

Tribunal is an excellent choice for a bruiser. He (they?) has (have?) nice blessings and miracles that can impact your dps, or improve your tanking ability.

Additionally, The Tribunal's cloak is nice for all non-epic content.

Update #1

I've soloed my erudite bruiser Kyoji up to 29th. Right now, I've stopped playing him while focusing on my main. Overall I have to say that the race / class combination has really turned out well. The racial mana regen bonus has shorten my down time, which is always a plus. And I chose the racial AE, which has helped to balance out the fact that most of my attacks are single target swings. Even the increase in casting speed has gained me a little more of an edge.

At this point, I haven't started the religion quests. In the end, I decided to go with the Tribunal. Once I start the religion aspect of the character, I'll be able to further comment on the situation.

To summarize, I'm really enjoying the bruiser class. My main is a Brigand and my first alt was a melee spec'ed Warden. Bruiser feels like a hybrid of the two, which has really clicked with me. This character will now be my prinary alt and I'm going to back shelf the warden.

Int is obviously a bruiser most important stat.

You want to max it as best you can.
