My wife and I both were in the original EQ2 beta from the start and played the game for about a year. We left for other adventures but after playing Age of Conan recently, were reminded of how much we had enjoyed EQ2 when we played. So, we've returned and are beginning our adventure a'new (even though we have several higher level classes at our disposal). We want to relearn the game from scratch. So, we both started Fae Wizards (since we love casters and nuking in general).Would anyone have some solid advice for two very mature returning wizards? We're playing on Antonia Bayle Server. I noticed from the start that there's no more isle when we started and instead of starting in Qeynos we started in Greater Feydark. This was actually a very pleasant surprise. Are there any crafting professions we should concentrate on in particular for wizards that will help us benefit from them? And, are there any starting quests we should not miss out on? Someone told me that AA points are accumulated several different ways but some from heritage quests. I can't say that I'm very familiar with heritage quests. I also do not understand what the achievement trees are all about or how to use them/access them.Again, hate to ask so many questions but we're two newbies again. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Thanks in advance folks.

The quest line there is as good as the aydark one, but the rewards will keep you in excellent armor, weapons and jewelery until you reach 30 !

Are there any crafting professions we should concentrate on in particular for wizards that will help us benefit from them?

One of you should be a Sage, as making your spells will save you a lot of coin and searching for spells on the broker. Wizards are popular, so their many spells are expensive. Other than that, the choices are all open... food, cloth robes, alchemy for potions...!

And, are there any starting quests we should not miss out on?

Again... follow the quest lines in either Faydark and /or Timorous Deep.

Someone told me that AA points are accumulated several different ways but some from heritage quests. I can't say that I'm very familiar with heritage quests.

AA points are acumulated after level 10, for completing quests, and exploring new areas, and for killing named MoBs, and for discovering loot drops. They will happen as you level, do not worry about them. I believe you need to be level 20 before you can spend them?? Heritage Quests are special quests that are level dependent. You cannot begin them until you reach a particular level. They reward guild status and personal status... and a nice Legendary item! They are worth checking out...

I also do not understand what the achievement trees are all about or how to use them/access them.

Many here in the forums will help you with how these should be used... hahaha.

There.... that should get you started !

Erithorn

Thanks for the heads up on the beginning information.

Right now, I'm a sage and she's a jewelcrafter. I'm currently 9 Wizard and 20 Sage. We've only been in GFay and it is a very beautiful zone. We're really surprised with everything that you can do in the game. It's very entertaining and fun. I noticed that you said to continue the quest lines. Is there a particular quest line you are referring to? Or, do you mean to just accept every quest you can and do them all in order of level, etc.?

I'm the guild leader of our guild (only us 2 and our alts) but we're at 8th level and close to 9th level as a guild (from our previous play time). I'll have to look into guild reward status. I consolidated my money and started to make us adept spells for DDs and roots only. I'm still not sure which spells are more important than others. I also don't grasp the achievement trees all that well as it appears to resemble feat trees in AoC or talents in WoW. I just don't want to mess up in that area and not be ablet to undo a mistake.

The AA points - that's good to know. So you basically are stating not to worry about them because they'll simply come as we quest and discover and kill named bosses etc.

Thanks again. Please let me know if there is anything else you can think of that we should probably know about.

*thanks everyone*

Yep, do all the quests you can in Gfay, take all they give you, also start the Heritage quest "Honor and Service" from Soandso Irontoe near the main lift..

Round level 16 or so you migth want to head to Timouros Deep for thse quest lines as they offer some very nice rewards.

Here is what I do with a new character: Start in Darklite woods, can do Gfay to. I do all quests I can till level 10. Thats when I lock my combat experience. When locked you only get quest completion experience and AA points. I keep doing the quests in current zone, when the quests outlevel me (round 14, remember your getting xp from quests) I go to Gfay, or Darklite woods if I start in Gfay, and do the quests there. That puts me at around 18 witha nice stack of AA points. Head to Timorrus Deep and do the quests there for some nifty armor. Setting you at about 20th level and up to 15 or so AA points. Finish all that were previously too high for me in the starting zones. Enable combat experience and rock on. Works great for me, just an option.

Welcome back! I'll just fill in a couple of minor holes.

First there are 5 starting areas now. The Fae only start in Greater Faydark/Kelethin just as the Arasai only start in Neriak/Darklight Woods. The old isles still exist if you choose Freeport or Qeynos as your starting area. Timorous Deep is the starting area for the Sarnak as well as an assortment of evil and neutral races. You can check the wiki for who starts where and with what alignment.

As to the questlines you might want to check the solo timelines on EQ2i. You are duoing so you don't need to stick to solo only stuff, but it can give you a basic roadmap to work from. There are also other timelines posted for heroic quests, dungeons, etc.

At that point, switch to another line and follow the same pattern. This way you will keep focussed, and have a train of thought to follow. Makes it more fun in my experience. Do not be afraid to delete quests you do not find fun, or go against any RP decisions you have made... there are way more quests than one character can do in a lifetime.

Guild status is valuable currently for bank space, status items to wear sn put in your house... but soon it will be usefull for Guild housing ! Remember to redeem all those "status" items that you loot as well.

Root and Nuke spells are the most important for the wizard I believe...

I also don't grasp the achievement trees all that well as it appears to resemble feat trees in AoC or talents in WoW. I just don't want to mess up in that area and not be ablet to undo a mistake.

There is some excellent information in this forum stickies... and if you search for "Wizard AA" as well.... Actually there is no absolute right way to chose... you chose what you feel will help your playstyle... and you can always reselect if you like. You may think similarily to some of the posters here and follow their suggestions if you see fit.

The AA points - that's good to know. So you basically are stating not to worry about them because they'll simply come as we quest and discover and kill named bosses etc.

Exactly, play your game your way and the AA point will just happen

Thanks again. Please let me know if there is anything else you can think of that we should probably know about.

One thing perhaps... as a Fae please pick GLIDE when you get a advancement selection to chose Seriously fun!!!

Erithorn
