55 - Selo's Speed of Sound gives 44% run speed to group out of combat. I forget what it is in combat. I use it with HQ version of JBoots for 54% personal runspeed. That's as fast as we go.

The bard speed issue is a debate that has been going on for years - especially since druid classes got a big speed buff that leaves bards in the dust. I should point out that my 40% carpet that I still use on my 80 necro outruns every mob I have so far encountered (when I need to run). So, faster bards would be nice but is not high on my priority list. I have a much higher priority for musical instruments that have useful abilities.

i have 80 dirge and a 48 ranger my ranger is currently running 66% with pathfinding and J boots plus aa choice. I also have earring of the solstice but i dont use it. this smokes my dirge like he is standing still it is crazy.

SoW on a Warden is +45%. Selo's is +44%. And Selo's is always-on and groupwide. SoW is single-target and requires recasting. (Furies get a speedier temporary buff, but can't AA their SoW past 20%. Mystics can boost SoW to 40%, and defilers just get 20% again.) I've got both a troub and a warden in the mid-70s (and a dirge and fury and mystic in the 25-50 range.) My Warden might SoW groupmates indoors, but he uses his Earring of the Solstice for himself to save on the constant recasting. I'd happily take bard-style always-on groupwide 1%-slower speed for my Warden, if I could. I've never understood the debate, myself, especially given the easily-available fast mounts in the game. (Of course, I didn't play EQ1, so the "bards must be teh fastestest!" rule seems arbitrary to me, while it's gospel to everyone else...)

I understand Prrasha. I had a bard in EQ1. With a good drum equipped the run speed on a bard was like greased lightning and it was group wide permanent buff. A EQ1 Shaman with Spirit of the Cheetah could be as fast but only for about 30 secs and only on his/herself. I think that some of the more nostalgic EQ1 players want to see bards have that 70% run speed like they used to have so they could zoom across peoples screens like a great blue blur once again (bard class armor was bright medium blue color). Of course, bards were also plate classes. We won't see that again, either.

Extra run speed is a "nice to have" IMO but not a class breaker. Bards don't make the group - they just make it better. That is fine by me. I would be more interested in seeing instruments that make our buffs better. That's what they did in EQ1 and I would like something similar in EQ2.

The only place where really super run speed would actually be useful is on PvP (which I don't do). I know that in EQ1 PvP bards were deadly. They could use their speed to stay just outside of casting range and use either spell or ranged weapon attacks very effectively. PvP fights with bards always became battles of attrition.

I don't understand what Sony's bug is with travel speed in this game.Give bards 100% runspeed with a drum and AA's...Give Shamans +ATK skill with a 50% runspeed. (Gotta be better than the tradeskill one...)Give Druids +Mana regen with 50% runspeed. You'd have 6 happy classes... and since there's already a precedence for it, there shouldn't be any problem. At this stage of the game, we should be able to attain flying mounts with 200% travel speed...

GU 47 = no love for troubadors or necromancers. Everyone else got something, it seems in the last couple of updates.
