Started about a month ago, when I'm in combat once in a while the game will hang up, stop responding and whatever sound is playing will loop on a short cycle. It clears up in about 5-7 seconds but, as I'm a tank, that can be long enough to wipe my raid (it has happened on a pull). when the game goes back to working, it immediatly catches up as if I had just stopped doing anything. If I was moving, I'm stopped.

I've already tryied a complete new install of eq2 and my OS with drivers and everything. Thought it was working great until a few minutes ago when it happened again. Is there some way to determine what's locking it up? I'm beginning to think its a hardware issue but can't be certain just yet.

I'm running xp 32, 2 gig ram, nvidia 7800 with an audigy 4 card.

Edit: also note that the computer itself does not hang when the game does. In window mode I can get the computer to respond but not the game. So I can't believe it''s hardware. Could it be internet related?

I have been having a similar issue, the game freezes up on me and some times I lag into mobs, to the dismay of my party. I dont know what causes it but I do notice that sometimes ventrilo will freeze at the same time which leads me to believe that it might be internet related but Im at a loss since not all programs freeze up. Its very odd and annoying, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Same here. Only happens in combat and usually only at the beginning of the encounter. Less often it will happen again during the encounter. No internet latency, no ping time spike, no other hardware or software issues, no AV scan running in the background. Started with GU46.

Feel free to post any information you have in this thread so we can look into this issue.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=422975

Just wanted to say that I'm having a very similar issue when in groups or raiding. This issue has only started happening in the last few weeks. I know it's probably unwise to say "since the last GU" as it's a dangerous assumption to make, but it really seems to be the case. My normal ping of ~150ish (or whatever the little window that pops up when you hit "F11" actually measures) jumps to 500/600 on pull. Things catch up after a few seconds, but it's hardly ideal.I don't believe this to be a network issue, simply because it is almost constantly happening when a mob is pulled, and I don't think my ISP is routing packets specifically to annoy me in those instances!(I've not posted in the thread linked, as that seems to be dealing with a separate issue, actual game freeze/crashes rather than these annoying lag spikes)I also don't believe this to be a graphical settings issue, because of the consistency of the problem. Additionally, it occurs whether I'm on high quality or extreme performance settings. Graphics card is a 8800GTX, (yes, with the latest drivers), not top of the range but if it can run Crysis, it should run EQ2 I suppose it might be my processor (Q6600), but that seems a little unlikely. Following some advice on various forums, I tried nailing EQ2 to use a single core (#4) and moved all other processes to #1-#3. This didn't appear to have an effect.I'll happily post traceroutes, DxDiag logs and the like if it would actually help, but I have a suspicion you'd have more luck if everyone started posting actual combat logs so that you can see what wards, spells and such are being cast before and during the start of these fights.

I believe there is an audio option for looping sound. Give me a few moments and let me see if i can get a screenie of it up.

Do you have this option checked? Can you uncheck it and give it a try?
