I can't seem to figure out the difference between app1 and m1 Distill Soul. Anyone have any insight on this?

Heal is better.. think it's the same size as your small direct heal at the same spell quality (been a long time since I last looked into defiler stuff).

Does anyone actually use the "distilled soul" which comes from this spell? It seems this spell is even less useful then the Maelstrom / Pandemonium line...

I find that black marble's best use (besides being deleted to free an inventory slot) is giving it away to non-healer lowbies who could actually use a decent heal (decent only because they have way fewer hp's than me). And, usually when i give it to them it's like this:

lowbie: "[Removed for Content]??"

me: "click-heal for ya"

lowbie: "ohhhh.... ic. I have 4 level 80 toons and never saw that before. Thanks!"

Am I missing some utility here? Does using it proc OLH? Is there any usefulness anyone has found for in end-game instances or raiding?

I'm just not sure how anyone could say no to an item that you can hotbar that gives you any size of free heal...that can be 'refilled' with no effort during fighting - raid or otherwise.

Although not the same size of heal as the Innoruk's Child 'dolls' from the "Blessing of the Prince" ring from SoH...say, still having a couple of any kind of free heal that's insta-cast ...?

Do a few mobs, hand these out as they proc, let everyone hotbar them..then sit back. How could this ever be considered 'useless'? Also, like conjuror shards or necro hearts, the item sticks with whomever you gave it to until they log out. Kind of like Defiler Parting Gifts!

Definately not something I find useless on my defiler.

Now that I've dinged 29 and had the opportunity to use Distill Soul a few times I've found it to be very useful. All I do is give a little speech on what to look for in the inventory to my new group, tell them to hotbar it, and watch the emergency heals come when they need it.

When I was the one that used to receive the item first, I also thought this was handy. At the end of the day though I have found it to be just another buff to cast.

To truely see the potention of this skill I would suggest, yet again, that this spell be looked at like hearts and shards - that's right, hearts and shards. ie like necro's and conji's, we can cast it on a person. I don't mind so much whether it's a single use item or three uses like their power counterparts, but as it stands, on a raid, they are NEVER used thanks to how it is set up (how many times to you see the MT group get a kill shot for example?).

Well, here again it's kind of like the comparison to the Innoruk Doll that procs from the Blessing of the Prince ring. I don't always get that item first, it just gets deposited in the person's inventory. The only way I know that they have one is if it procs again, I get a 'Summon failed, (whomever) can't accept the item' message.

Even though it's a little bit of a pain to tell everyone to look in their inventory for one (and I even have to remind seasoned groups used to getting them)...it's STILL a very useful item. I don't mind saying it because there have been times when having that (and the Distill Soul item) have gotten us through a nailbiting part of a fight.

I still say it's well worth it.

Whenever the item item is summoned for the first time, just drag it to your hotbar. Then after you use it, you'll konw when you get another one.Since they only summon to each group member or yourself when that specific person gets a killshot, I think it would be nice if you could hold more than 1 at a time, or maybe give it 2 or 3 charges at higher spell quality.

I get "[Removed for Content] is this Adept 1 silver orb thingy." all the time...my responce is normally "It's my purple wheat spell [Removed for Content]! Eat it and shut up!" XD
