I've just recently restarted playing on my old account but no matter what I try to change as far as visual/performance options the game always seems choppy/laggy.I'm unable to tell if it's a connection issue or possibly something with my computer, was hoping with some of this info someone might be able to find something out for me.I'm playing on the Nektulos server right now, I have noticed that my ping is constantly above 300 which is why I think it is connection problem but I'm running straight from the modem to the computer.I know it's a lot to look through but I can't really tell where the problem is coming from. what i usually do for performance and quality.go to options in-game and there should be the choices for quality and performance.

I've messed with that and it doesn't change a thing no matter how low I set the graphics and aim it towards performance.

I've started to experience severe lag this weekend - nothing has altered on my PC set up and last time i played was 2 days ago with no issues at all. Sometimes if you unplug the power on your modem for a few minutes (up to 30 minutes) you can get a different IP address for the modem, which can route you in a different way.If you do call the ISP on this issue I would recommend against telling them it is for a game, and just let them know it is a program for school or work. Most ISPs will shut you down if you tell them you are having gaming issues.

Not to argue with a TSR but I have never heard of an ISP shutting you down for gaming especialy since it is illegal to do so at least in my area. The routing issues are out of yours and theirs control. Do like the TSR said and hope for the best. I have had issues like yours and contacted my ISP and got the same answer from everyone even my friend who works there. Those are not their hops so they can not do anything about it.Good luck

They wont turn off your service, but they will not support your issue is what I meant. Coming from a background in ISP call centers, this is pretty standard in the industry.

Should have checked this before I called......been on the phone all afternoon and from what you mentioned it's true...........so far it seems they don't want to help because I've mentioned it's for gaming. Not to mention these people have some of THE absolute worst CS skills and do nothing but read from a flowchart and enter generic information into a computer and read the big letters on the screen.Maybe I'll just shut off the modem and give that a try.......and pray that it works.

Having worked tech support all my adult life, I can vouch that most call centers' policy is to absolutely, under no circumstances, help a customer out with a game related issue. The reasoning is that the game itself has its own support and inevitably as a representative you will be troubleshooting the game itself at least a little bit. Call centers have budgets based on call durations, handle times and average hold times. While my over all system performance is now outstanding, my game play quality is unchanged. This leads me to believe that our nVidia 5200 FX w/256megs is antiquated and the root of the problem.I play on my girlfriend's computer with the same specs as mine and half the RAM, but with a brand new nVidia card in it and game play is smooth as a baby's bottom.So, in closing to the OP.Don't bother fiddling with your ISP.. just go out and grab a new video card. Also chuck another gig of RAM in there, you only have 1gig which EQ2 will eat for breakfast.Having a small amount of RAM results in paging, with just one HDD (that can only read or write, not do both at the same time) it can result in stutters etc as it writes to the page file and forces eq2 to wait for untill it can read from the drive.
