Sorry if this is the wrong place. I played EQ2 in 2006, but only got to like level 15 and I wanted to try it out while the 60 day trial offer was available.

Anyway, I wanted to be some type of "in-your-face" class and I thought the Bruiser fit well with that. However, I don't want to handle the responsibility of a tank and I'm not a very "sneaky" or dagger person. Will I still be able to solo and duo well? I only know one person playing, and he's a dirge. Would we compliment each other well? I wanted to be a melee DPS that wasn't a rogue, but it seems that they rest are all tanks of some kind. Please advise, I'd really like to be a Bruiser, but I don't want to be relied on as a tank or expected to have learned tanking as my duty.

Thank you!

If in-your-face means doing massive amounts of damage but still not really tanking the mob I would say you need a brigand. A brigand is an awesome solo class that can shred mobs down fast. However a brigand really doesn't begin to shine until the mid to late 50's when they get their class signature debuffs. In a one on one situation I don't think any fighter or scout can compete with a well played brigand other than the assassin.

Brusiers are technically a figher which tranlates to "tank". While bruisers can do decent dps for a tank they will stray behind the scouts tremendously and a bruiser while considered a tank will most likely not be asked to tank as often as a plate tank will be. Bruiser dps is ok and will actually get better once a bruiser gets knockout combo but this will not happen till lvl 65. Bruisers are a good solo class also.

As far as you really wanting to play a bruiser I would say do it. The dirge will complement you more than you will the dirge. Dirges are great companions for any melee class simply because they can increase run speed, dps, attack speed, and have great power regen. A bruiser will just be the tank in that duo. Bruisers are currently not the most sought after tank nor are they most sought after for dps either.

Again just roll a bruiser and see what you think.
