View Full Version : Bags slipping when screen reduced.

Hiya all I will try and keep this as to the point as possible. Ok basically whenever I take EQ out of fullscreen for whatever reason I find that once I revert back to fullscreen all of my bags have slipped down the screen. I then have to place them all back to where they used to be. Now the odd thing is when I first started playing this happened and somewhere along the line I changed a setting and they stayed put no matter what I did. Well I then upgraded to Vista and the problem is back. I mean it isn't major game breaking stuff but it does kind of grate as resetting bags is a very precise science to someone who is as overly OCD with lining things up as I am. Oh and don't worry I am aware that there is an in game browser but the same happens when I go from reduced graphics to my normal (solo/group) setting, and the in game browser though good for normal stuff doesn't allow me to do everything I would like. I even tried posting this through in game browser but this text wouldn't come up. So anyway gotta go square them bags up again, k what was it 2 pixels apart horizontally and 3 vertically?? Oh god I forgot.....Thanks in advance for any help sent my way

Yes! Very annoying. I shrink and full size my playing window all the time, since the game runs more smoothly when in full screen mode, but I like having access to other windows/programs when not in a dungeon.

Although I would prefer it if this were fixed, as I have this same issue with just about everything on my screen, hotbars, bags, misc. windows... I do know of a nice little workaround.

Use the command "/load_uisettings" in a macro on your hotbar. A window will pop up with a list of all characters who have custom UI layouts. Choose yours (or another character's if you want to easily reproduce the same layout across all characters) and presto. Everything will shift back to where it's supposed to be.

Be aware that this also loads up chat channel settings, so be careful about loading up UI settings files from other characters who are in channels your current character cannot join. Causes a bug where you cannot leave the locked out channel because you do not have permissions for being in it, but it's still there in a way. You have to set it to some high channel number and forget about it. Can be annoying for us OCD types. ;D

Lol y'know its odd how we come up with these workarounds Strangely enough I do the very same thing, though why I didn't post it I just don't know.

Thankyou for posting this workaround as it is a great way to quickly get your screen back to normal. Its great that I am not the only one that must match corners up and have all lines with equal spacing. Let me guess, you also get irate when you see people have placed things in their house or guild hall that isn't parallel with the walls?..... Same here!!

Heh, yes, exactly as you describe. I'm very well known on my server for being a meticulous decorator. Just do a search for "Tock" on the Norrathian Homeshow forums. Drives me batty when things aren't spaced or aligned quite right. Everything has to have balance and flow. Sconces on the walls have to be at the exact same height on the wall all around each room.

When I go over to my RL friends' house and happen to see their EQ2 clients, the hapharzard and sloppy arrangement of their hotbars and chat windows makes me want to cry. :D

C'mon, no fix? I know this isn't major but if the /load_uisettings keeps this information, surely there must be a way for these to be kept in memory when changing from full screen. This even happens now when I go from raid settings to an optimized graphics setting for normal play.

This has been a problem for over a year. I'm thinking it's a very low priority.

OK it turns out I have been an idiot all along.

Option > User Interface > Game Windows > Allow Windows Offscreen (untick)

Not totally ideal as I can't move browser off screen at the same time but hey better than nothing

I think some folks were talking about with with Rothgar on the eq2interface forums, it's something about how certain windows store their location relative to different things, meaning you get windows moving when you window out and back. Not sure what ever became of that discussion, but interested folks may be able to find it there and take a read or give it a bump.
