Vista SP1 still hasn't loaded on my laptop via Microsoft Updater. When I first got the message in EQ2, many patches ago, about EQ2 recommending Vista SP1, I looked into it.At that time it was recommended to wait for the automatic update. After all these months I'm still waiting. I talked to Dell Customer Support today and they said to wait for another 1-2 months!Frankly, I'm in no hurry to update if it means I have to debug Bill Gate's software.I only mention this because EQ2 is the only thing I run that seems to care.So ... was Dell right and I should hold off until it's stable and automatically loads?Any other Dell laptops playing EQ have this same thing?

They are blowing smoke at you. Read the KB article on some of the causes.</p>

Thanks for the reply!I read that KB before I contacted Dell. The only possible cause was cause 7 - Updater is offereing but SP1.But I have downloaded all the recommended files when suggested and none are hidden. I also searched to make sure the specific files they mentioned were also downloaded. So, I'm at a loss what to do.

We have just about every model Dell laptop they have made in the last 10 years

I've got an Inspiron E1505 and it came with Vista preloaded.I'm thinking I might see if there are any hardware driver updates I might need although the Dell guy said I was fine. Thanks!

Looked at their support site, it appears there are a number of various upgrades from bios to drivers available. You might want to look into that.

Well, I'm amazed! SP1 finally automatically loaded itself. Just thought I'd mention that and thank everyone that helped me. I was just about to totally rework all my drivers and viola! It showed up on its own.

fyi for others experiencing this issue, you CAN manually install SP1 by downloading the IT installer version. this is basically the entire SP, not just bits and pieces you may not have (windows update does it in bits and pieces like that).
