View Full Version : Harness

So I was trying to solo this (Harness; part of the whole roeklik world event line) to get it out of my quest log tonight. At first I thought it would be tough with Epic x2s needing to be killed, but the first set went down pretty easy at level 72. I got to the last drakota. He too wasn't too bad. Then bam, he stifles me and I start getting hit with unresistible bolts cast by some strange idol. I died before I became unstifled. I revive, but the bolts continue and just kill me again. Is there some way to make them stop or prevent them?

I'm thinking that if I tried this again, I'd have to save Death March and some how time it perfectly to prevent the CC, then lifetap through the bolt damage (a tall order). There has to be some better way, particularly given that it looks like I basically get one shot per 18 hours (That's the worst bit).

The damage appears to be focus damage, so no way for me to mitigate it.

Inquiring minds want to know! Bump!!! I know there is something that can turn off the wolves...

That's the think in the basement, right?

I might just try it. Well timed death march, followed by a harm touch and the right miracle might be able to explode the drakota or at the very least let me take it down before the bolts kill me, but I'd rather not throw myself endlessly at this if there's an actual way to disable those bolts.

There are the two Wolves near the entrance and the idol, thing is I was sure I disabled the wolves before I took on the wyvern (I get paranoid at that stuff.) just like I was sure to move that evil Giant with a similar ability. Even when most of the server was of a level to fight these Battles, no one did because, the quest had sooo many lock outs between each part some solo some group/raid it was near impossible to get everyone on the same page...If there is a switch to turn off I could conceivably take the wyvern, if not I hat to have the quest rot in my journal (Still have to take the Marr event on as well and finish the godking questline (Stupid timed epic)

They should just change the mobs into heroics so people can actually finish this world event from 3 years ago.

It's not the mob that is is issue but a statue that zaps you once you fight the final mob, and keeps zapping even if you rez (2-3,000+k is painful even at level 80) EQ2i knows only some basics of it Alakazam has a better explanation but the statue issue has not been figured out there. I don't think I found any thing on Brasse's site either

This quest has been camping in my questlog for ages...have tried it on occasion but every time something went wrong; not enough explosives cause some did not work... Somenone died and accidentally zoned out > lockout timer (yes, they removed that one, thank the Gods). Someone accidentally aggroed the epicx4 giant > wipe...and then lock out... you get it.I read about the zapping idol but could not find any info on what to do about it. So I amassed lots and lots of clockwork bombs, flamable stuf and other nukes gotten from instances as Unrest and the Devourers Lair. Bought 3 packs of explosives charges just to be sure. Went in with my Jack Bauer-kit and 2 other lvl 80 toons and one lvl 68 wiz...and finally finally finally downed that blasted drakota. Never did so much damage during one fight in my entire mystic-carier. Never saw any damage coming from that idol...so maybe this is the way to do it. <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />Aftewards we partied and spammed the guild chat all night.Perhaps this quest is just a tad too hard to complete? Although I think the roekilik are cute this quest is completely out of balance even after the changes.

You even get status for soloable grey epics hehe. The problem with the wyvern is some strange idol zaps you and the zap does 16%-33% of your health every tick. So no amount of nerfs to the mobs would make that survivable unless they replaced the last Drakota with a soloable mob hehe.

I mean my only thought is I could try to brute force my way through the Drakota fight with Divine Aura (10 sec immunity to damage), Death March (10 sec immunity to CC, I might be able to lifetap through the bolts if not for the CC), Harm Touch, and a damage-dealing miracle. I might try it at some point hehe.

Actually, if I can figure out if the Drakota stuns or stifles, I think there's a potion for that that would greatly improve my chances.

I wonder if the Idol is behind the Wyvern and if it can be deactivated? Kick on Tsunami and Will of the Void and might have to look.

I mean even at level 80, those things still wittle me down. I don't want to have to deal with some unavoidable totem by the time I knock him down to 60%.

Making these really old (but fun! at least for us quest junkies) quests a bit more solo friendly by changing the mobs to Heroic would be a very welcome change.

Yeah, General Rujark hits hard (compared to his Advisor and that other epic in there for some quest), and he summons his whole room that respawns waay too fast for me to solo.

Of course, what I'd really want to see nerfed/made easier is Godking Anuk. I don't mean the fight itself, I mean the need for eyes every time. I still have two quests for him that I might never finish

There is a named prior to the end drakota, Rygia, who drops Rygia's Amulet of Dousing. The amulet can be used to disable the two totems behind the drakota temporarily. It only lasts a few seconds and has to be clicked repeatedly throughout the fight. Unfortunately, it was still a chest drop and not a body drop last time I checked. Since the mobs were grey to me, I was unable to obtain the amulet.

They need to make that a body-drop then.
That makes sense, but wow... that makes completing this while being higher level really unnecessarily difficult.

It was hard to do even at lower levels which is why it is still in my book. They need to make it so that people can do it solo. No one does the darn thing.
It's the last quest I have below 60. At 60 though, I have a load of raid x4s
