Now, I've leveled up my Froglok Paladin to level 26. I am very impressed. My first character I started when EQ2 launched was a Guardian. Since Kunark i've leveled him to 74 and basically gave up solo'ing in kunark because my Conj was much more effective. Now, I still really enjoy my guardian for main tanking in groups. And throughout playing my Conj I've seen some really great Paladins, able to keep AoE aggro much better than my guardian ever could.Since playing my Paladin, I've kept him as uber as I can afford with at least Mastercrafted gear, and adept 3's and mostly Master 1's because the M1's up until level 30 that i've searched for are dirt cheap! I've been soloing everything like it's nothing! Then I got to stormhold. The usual location for my alts once they are 20. I started out withe the Heroic ^'s at the beginning, and then was cautious to try the Heroic ^^^'s. So I gave it a go.As I found out, the undead don't stand a chance against a Paladin! Amazing I ripped right through a level 22 Heroic^^^ when I was level 23! I've never done this with any other class! (except wizard but they squishy with higher death rate soloing ) I entered the room with the chessboard a short time after I dinged 26, and once I entered the door, the named Scion came running after me! I believe he is level 25 Heroic ^^^, he was blue con is all I remember. I was tempted to run at first because I was unsure how the battle will end since he isn't an undead mob. After a long and stuggling fight, I was victorious! With only about 10% health left, and absolutely NO mana! All I can say is wow. Go paladins!Shortly after, I started a group with a templar and even more wow as a duo. We were just ripping apart everything undead in our path. Eventually we got more people invited, which wasn't really needed, but regardless no one was able to pull aggro from me. This whole time I've been in offensive mode with my 2hander I have. An 80 bruiser joined the group, and I was sure he was going to pull aggro from me just from his DPS. Either he's good at managing his dps, or Paladins just rock, but he couldn't even pull aggro away from me. Even when I started pulling entire rooms or mutliple rooms at the same time, my AoE's kept all the mobs focused on me.So even though I'm still fairly low level with this character, he rocks so much. I've heard a lot of people complain about the "gimpness" of paladins. And I know I haven't got him high enough to see how they fair in the upper levels, but I don't see why not. Maybe the bad things I've heard from paladins are just from people who don't play the class to its full potential? I'd much rather Group/Solo with my paladin, than with my Guardian by far. I just feel like I'm "doing more" in any of those situations. In conclusion, I just have been having so much fun playing a paladin, I thought I'd simply share the great experience I've had so far.

What I'm finding is it's not so much what level you are, or the level of your spells, but your gear (seems to be the common formula now -- gear is what makes the player "good&quot. How you can get all MC gear from a new character is the problem. Rerolls have extra cash, or has access to all the advanced armor books to make them themselves with the storehoused rares. Otherwise, you'll have to wear what can be dropped or you can afford (and at this level, getting 14 silver max per quest, not much unless you're putting equal time in a tradeskill).

The "gimping" I think is more to do with the level of damage/heal/ward the Pally's spells can do. I'm just level 27, and the recast time for heals alone to me is a major [Removed for Content] -- 15 minutes for one; 7 for the other. Use either in a battle, and if you can't kill the mob you're dead (no lower tier encounter will last even 7 minutes for a reprieve).

But then again, I go into these heroic areas with just low level spells and medium grade armor. Kill some, die some, but I'm more interested in fighting the beasties not letting the spells displace the sword.

Paladin vs undead works fine. As a lvl 80 with good gear & and aa's like int, sta & str ive out dps zerkers with pretty much the same gear.. vs undead then. But general "end" paladins got the lowest dps of the tanking classes. Same with the tanking abillties.. maybe u beat a sk with tanking spells.. but thats it. As a all-around class paladins are good imo. I have np playing paladin, they are ok.. fun class.
