Man, I've seen lots of pieces of armor with cool names... that end up having generic, unrelated icon-graphics, and even moreso unrelated in-game appearances. But this... this... ! I was just strolling about lootdb, looking at the drops in Nektropos Castle: The Return out of idle boredom, and came across the following three items:Maid's White CapMaid's Black DressMaid's Sheer StockingsThat could have been the sexiest outfit alive. I can't even bring myself to take a screenshot. I know that most armor in this game is like this, but why give it such a sexy name and make it look NOTHING like what it should be? At the very LEAST make the hat white, and the top a black robe... not that hideous thing.*sad*

Sort of like how almost every piece of headwear looks like a crashdummy hat, even though it has a name that suggests an entirely different style?

I can't help but notice that those items arn't restricted to the female gender. There's your answer on the appearance question right there.

Well, since they didn't do anything with the appearance, of course they wouldn't go and make it female-specific. And that doesn't really matter - look at the "dress clothes" that tailors can make.http://eq2.eqtraders.com/articles/a...php?article=g93

There are males IRL that dress in female clothing, maybe they would like the option to do it in the game too, as would others.. If it says its a dress and sheer stockings, the least they could have done was to make it LOOK like a dress and stockings. If they look like the icons on the items on lootdb, then they are misnamed.

Some men like wearing women's clothing, but not the vast majority of the male populous in this game.

Then the vast majority of the males wouldn't wear it... hypothetical "problem" solved ;p

It's because the dev's probably decided that they didn't want to make a new appearance item, and not have it look like the dozen or so other dresses out there that look identical except for the coloring. Unless you were being sarcastic in your original post, that I quoted, what you said shouldn't affect what the item looks like.

Like someone else pointed out, if men didn't want to wear it in the game, then they don't have to wear it. I'm not sure, but no matter what it looked like, how many men would willingly wear an item called Maid's black dress or sheer stockings? That kind of self limits the need to restrict it to one sex or the other.

The name of the writ? Dressing for Business.

So why is it perfectly okay to force females to wear the conformed to male armor, and not okay to make males wear female clothing?

Because it has nothing to do with crossdressing and more to do that they simply did not bother to actually make say, female formal wear appear properly on a male.

I think gender specific looks would be a welcome change of pace (though I think females in the game already have to dress like men). I just think they need to do something more interesting than the same meshes, reused textures, and so forth.
