Alright, I played as a BST on Rodcet Nife on EQ1. I started playing when Luclin launched and played all the way up to OOW. I was in a guild that had completed all of the available raid content and was one of two guilds that was going into content that hadn't been done on that server yet. I left EQ1 because I was tired of putting so much into my character and class, and not getting the same type of output from my class and respect from other classes.

I started playing EQ2 because I kept on reading how the classes were balanced and the holy trinity is no longer a necessity. That all the parent archetypes were built to accomplish the same goal, but just through different means. Well I can't go an hour of looking for a group w/out someone sending me a tell, telling me that I should reroll as anything but an SK, in order to raid.

I've rolled several different classes, and I just love my SK the most. Though, it's very disheartening to keep on hearing the same things that I heard as a BST on EQ1.

My question is, how true is this? What roll do we play on a raid? Are there SKs out there that find themselves playing the same roll as a Guardian, Zerker, Paladin, Bruiser, or Monk? Can I gear up to MT or DPS the same as other subclasses in my archetype?

If we're underpowered, is there anyone that has posted dps or mitigation parses to prove this?
