I've been getting this error off and on since I built my new machine with fresh installs of both Windows XP Pro MC edition( fully updated to SP3 and all patches) as well as EQ2 fresh install.Currently running:Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 3 GhzAbit IP35p motherboard4 gigs of Corsair The Dominator Series Twin2X4096-8500C5DF with Tri-Fan coolingPNY Nvidia Gefore 8800 GT (512 mb PCI-E) w/latest drivers from NvidiaSEAGATE 500gb ST3500320NS SATA ES 7200rpm 32MBLG GGW-H20L 6X internal super multi BLU-RAY disc Rewiter & HD DVD-ROM driveAntec Case with 6 Fans ( 5 - 120mm Antec fans and 1- 220MM Antec fan)500 Watt Antec Earth Watt power supplyI haven't done any overclocking or anything special just a straight install and updates. I did change my pagefile size to 6144MB.Any suggestions on fixing the issue would be helpful as it mostly happens in Neriak and Darklight wood.Other things I have noticed is choppy graphics(dropping bellow 20 fps usually 12-15 range) in certain zones with max settings etc but then jumping up to 70+ fps for some others. The choppy graphics or stuttering occured in DoF zones as well as Steamfont and Klak' Anon. Thanks,Banerm Vangard

Could you post a dxdiag as stated in the following thread.http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/...topic_id=353617

1. are you running IE 7 as your default brower? If so/not are you sure it is up to date with all patches and fixes?

2. with 4GB on the 32 bit OS do you have the settings for PAE and the such setup in the boot.ini?

Just an opinion - a 500 watt PSU is pretty marginal for that box, run a box similiar to that and had issues with a 650 watt PC Power and Cooling, finally went to 1K watt

Well I found good and bad from all of this. The good is Visual C++ runtime 2008 pack from Microsoft fixed the Runtime error. I also enabled /PAE as suggested. The bad....I'm stuck using high quality setting on a machine I no doubt would have thought could handle extreme settings. After some extensive research I've concluded obviously EQ 2 doesn't make use on my 2nd core ( which is documented) so overclocking may help performance slightly as well as perhaps using a 64 bit OS with some tweaking in the background.Running on high quality my fps can be 120 in some places and fall out to 15-20 in others. Most notably Neriak key areas being the dockside markets, some areas of North Freeport near the mage tower. Overall high quality runs smooth so I will have to cope for now, but still highly disappointed. Any other suggestions, tweaks and perhaps OC pointers are welcome.

There is a hotfix available to you from Microsoft. It could be an issue being caused by IE which Everquest 2 does use for browsing in game as well as the patcher.hotfixhttp://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=supportMicrosoft Knowledge base articlehttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/925418

This is something that started happening after they pushed out the "fix" for the issue with crashes when multi-core support was enabled. And it's not specific to a particular machine or system configuration. People throughout my guild have been experiencing it, and people are talking about the "pure virtual function" crashes in global chat. It seems to be more or less random; I've got it when opening a door, talking to a quest NPC, and just walking down the street in Qeynos. It's happened within a few minutes of logging in, and it's happened after playing for hours without a problem.

My boyfriend and I are both getting the error too. It is completely random and has been going on since they fixed the instability issue after the expansion went live. Got one bug fixed only to be replaced with another one. /sigh. I got Visual 2005 on my pc - I have not changed a thing in settings or anything, just happened out of the blue on 2 not identical machines here. Leads me to believe it is game related - especially since it happens on multiple pc's all over the country.

And finally - this is the expansion I have had the most issues with. After it went live it has just been one thing after another. I have never had these issues with any of the other expansions.

Just throwing my hat into this ring: having the same trouble as well. There are times I can play for 30 minutes, others for hours when I get the R6025 PVFC message in my face. Not to belabor the point, but there is a MSKB on the issue here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/125749

I'm no programmer by any stretch of the imagination, but it looks like the causality is pretty straight forward: "The error occurs when you indirectly call a pure virtual function within the context of a call to the constructor or destructor of an abstract base class."

The fix, also pretty easy to follow as well (if you have access to the code that is): "Calling a pure virtual function is a programming error, so you need to find the call to the pure virtual function and rewrite the code so it is not called."

Just my 2.5 cents.

Oh and before I forget I'm running the game without any custom UI.
