((now, I have not role played in years, and I mean since the start of EQ1. So I came back to EQ2 and went on Antonia Bayle since that is where my wife is. So, here is a short story about my character Bonefoot. Hope you all enjoy it))

The night was very dark, almost one of those nights that you can imagine assassins walking around looking for work. Looking around to make sure no one was looking the Necromancer walked fast towards the door frame of the old building, with his pet following right behind him.

Laying his hand on the door he can feel its thickness, even his pet would have problems bringing it down, or even scratching it for that matter. It was made of the toughest wood he knew of, mahogany lumber. What the proprietor of this place paid for that is mind boggling. Who would use that as a door?

Taking a deep breath he knocks on the door, jumping on how loud it sounds to his ears.

“What do you want” he hears from inside, almost muffled by the door.

“It is I, Bonefoot. I was told to meet the owner of this establishment for a certain package” he said, just loud enough he hoped to be heard on the other side of the door, but not enough to wake up the neighborhood.

With a suddenness that surprises him, the door opens and he is blinded by the light that is surrounding the body that is now in the door.

“Your late, I don’t usually open doors this late at night, but I understand your need is great. Come in, mind the dogs and you might want to tell your pet to disappear, they don’t like your kind of pets you all seem to run around with.” The man answers. He is very large for a human thinks the Necromancer. Noting as he turns away that he was correct. He is large. He is a Barbarian.

“My apology, I had problems trying to get here without being seen.” He mumbles, scooting into the door while telling his pet to stay outside and guard. Closing the thick door he turns around and looks for the owner.

He sees that he has moved into the next room, where it seems that the smell of his addiction is seeming to be stronger from that direction.

Hesitantly he moves towards the entrance and sees that the owner is standing behind a counter with a box in front of him.

“So, we don’t get many of your species asking for this. We usually get the normal addicts in our shop. This is the best stash I have. It will cost you of course, they don’t come cheap” Says the owner.

“Money is no object. I MUST have it. I have been told it can bring you bliss unlike anything.” Says the Necromancer, not once taking his hungry eyes off the box.

“I have not even told you the price yet” says the owner. “Are you sure about what you say?”

Finally the Necromancer looks up into the eyes of the owner. “Are they good as they say it is? Is it really made of the best ingredients? If they are, I am willing to pay their price. But of course, I am still a poor Iksar, but I am willing to pay a good price for what that box offers”

“Very well, the price shall not kill you much. The whole box is priced at one plat and only because I had to get it delivered from Willow Wood and the elves charged me more to bring it to Freeport then is normal. Seems there are dark clouds roaming the World right now and that is making some edgy.” Says the owner, not once taking his eyes off the Necromancer.

“One plat! “ exclaimes the Necromancer, trying to make himself sound aghast at the price but in reality he was trying not to yell in joy at the price. He had brought with him over four plat just in case.

“Oh don’t try that trick with me” Says the owner. “ I know about your addiction and that you would pay good money for this stuff. I can guess that you brought what? Four or five plat with you just in case?” Smiled the owner

One thing he was glad was that he is an Iksar and does not blush like most races, but he knows there are other ways for the other races to know how Iksar show their embarrassment.

“You are correct” says the Necromancer. Reaching into his purse, he pulls out a platinum piece and put it on the counter without removing his eyes from the box. Such a simple box for something that is so addictive. It is about almost the same size as his book on History of the Gnomes laid flat. The colour of the box is an almost reddish colour, like that of dried blood. The makers even put a piece of gaudy ribbon across it to make it seem elegant.

“There we are, that was not so hard. It’s all yours” Says the owner, with a big smile, “Try not to ingest them all at once. I hear if can make even a Barbarian like myself very sick”

The necromancer slowly moves to stand in front of the box. With shaking hands, which he forces himself to steady he puts his hands on each side of the lid.

Slowly he opens the box and sees that there is a waxy like paper on top. Taking a deep breath to steady his heart, he removes the paper by sliding it up into the top of the cover.

With a gasp he looks up at the owner and says in wonder “They are bigger then I though!”

“Aye” says the owner with a warm smile “I was able to get the bigger ones for you. I understand your addiction well and I wanted to get the very best for you”

“By the gods they are beautiful” says the Necromancer, with what almost sounds like a catch in his voice. But the owner knows he was mistaken since Iksars are not known to have such foolish feelings like that.

Slowly the Necromancer picks up once of the little items in the box with two fingers and brings it out. Turning it around he sees the beauty of it, the way the light shines on it and even the texture! He cannot get over how soft the texture is. He has always had to make do with low grade stuff usually, but in this he can feel the difference on just texture alone. He is amazed.

Slowly he brings the piece to his mouth and pops it into his mouth. He can feel the item start to melt in his mouth. The taste is something even the Gods would not gainsay. Slowly he lets it fully melt in his mouth and he can feel the euphoria slowly invade his mind. He can feel his body relax slightly, and can even feel his pet relaxing knowing his master is so relaxed.

“So,” says the owner “Are the chocolates what you expected them to be?”

The end
