View Full Version : Are bruisers being examined?

It is evident there is much valid discontent with the groupability of the bruiser. I hear much of what we need done etc etc. But, is anything actually being examined? Or should the bruiser community stop focusing on what the bruiser needs, and just get attention from SoE in the first place that the bruiser requires reviewing. All the talk in the world means nothing if nobody is listening.

I do think that SOE has read every concern on every class and as far as any class being examined I couldn't say. The brusier class just needs a minor polishing and not a complete revamp. Bruisers are still good everyday norrath tanks and are hard to beat for this content. What I feel is setting the bruisers on the back burner right now is that other players are now seeing the benefits of our counterpart "the monk". Being able to tank, offer group and raid melee/spell haste, offer group survivability (every 15 min?), a powerful targetable heal (every 3mins), consistant dps, and monks have the best "save the fight" tools with tsunami and peel combination and when done correctly is very very nice to have.

I think where most bruisers have the issues with monks is that since ROK monk dps has jumped higher than most bruisers since the invent of plus four second delay weapons. Monk haste is really great with these longer delay weapons and has really increased their dps. This normally wouldn't be a problem but since dps was one defining areas between bruisers and monks pre ROK has now been closed. With bruisers not being able to bring anything that is better than a monk is the reason most bruisers are wanting SOE to look into the bruiser class.

I too would like to know. While I'm still enjoying my bruiser, there are days when I wonder if I'm racing right into a dead end. Especially when I can't even get into a PUG because they want either a tank or a healer or a dps and in many people's minds a bruiser isn't any of them. When I don't get to tank much I don't get to practice much which means I can't hone my tanking skills which means I'm a worse tank which means I can't get to tank much -- sort of a vicious circle.

Anyway, it would be easier to stick it ouf if I thought help was on the way. If it looks like nothing is going to change that means that sooner or later I'll have to take things into my own hands or be stuck in a dead end -- either betray to monk, reroll, or find another game. Because my current situation is not sustainable. If I thought they were seriously trying to find a way to fix things it would be easier to stick it out.

I've been playing a monk lately (got her up to 40) but she still has a long ways to go and through content I've already played (i.e. it's kind of boring). I'm just not one for lots of alts.

/whine off

But yea, inquiring bruisers want to know.

Tank heroics is just fine with us, we do it just fine. There shouldn't be one instance/dongeon you cant do. And, the community on your server should be just fine with you tanking. That shouldn't be an issue at all.

But it is with you, so lemme suggest a fix. When you log on, start your own group. It is pretty easy, you will tank, and those with you will get used to you tanking. Come here for advise if you need help, but your fame will soon spread and groups will be seeking you out. Seriously.
