Hi,

We are on a quest where we have to kill a lv55 Heroic with three arrows up, the guy we need seem to be casting a spell called Ice Comet which make it impossible for me (lv48 Warlock) and my girl (lv47 Wizard) to kill him. The spell he cast kill us once it hit us. I also saw that Wizards get the spell once they are lv50.

My question(s):

Is there a way to avoid this spell, Ice Comet? if so, how?

Once my girls Wizard will hit 50 and get this spell, will it mean we can use it on him and kill him real quick? it almost sounds too good to be true if so.

We are actually doing pretty good at first, rooting him and nuking, then he cast the spell and one of us die and then its over, I realize we are probably too low level to even be doing this at the moment but I want that carpet!

Thanks!

Stun him like crazy. He has a special animation when he casts it, and thats the time to stun!

Stun worked well, we got him more than halfway but then we ran out of mana (of course), I guess we have to wait some levels, that stun thing was impressive I must say.

Thanks for that!

Get some lvls, and get a few freinds to help. The way i did it on my main, a long time ago, was just stun, interrupt, stun when he started the animation. My advice: Get a scout, preferably a brigand or swash, cheap shot should get him, + dispatch off the brig will make him a ton easier.

We found a trick to doing it. Take along a big hefty tankish toon; Group up and YOU (or whoever needs the quest) hit first, then get out of the way. Tank ungroups and takes out the baddie. Since you hit first you get the credit for killing him; doesn't matter that the actual dirty deed was done by a heavy. Far's I know this works for all such situations; you hit first and then back off and let your big gun do the work.Just to let ya know; it won't matter if your wizzie has Ice Comet also. He hits so fast and hard (I think he hits for max as opposed to a percentage of max dmg) and you'll go down for the count. Ah, yes; the carpet quest. I go for that as soon as I can talk my guild buds into it. My wizzies never buy mounts. The carpet is just fine for me.

You must be talking about Kwi'Whazzisname in Maj'Dul for the Carpet Quest. He can be tough even for a full party. The last time I tried, the trick of having someone out of group and higher level had been stopped - once the encounter starts it is locked and no out-of-group intervention was possible.I like to recruit a tank and a healer on this one. If you can get someone who can stifle he's easy.First, make sure there are no flying cops. Those nasty guys on the carpets! Whoever has the quest speaks to Kwi'Whazzisname and the tank is poised waiting to grab aggro. Pull him against the cliff wall away from the bystanders.Everyone who has a stun should be stunning... unless you have someone who can keep him stifled - either way, it prevents him pitching that Ice Comet. Keep hitting him until he's dead.

Don't expect "your girls" ice comet to do nearly as much as the NPC's version.

Thanks for everyones suggestions and advice. I dont know how hard he is considering me as a lv48 Warlock and my girlfriend as a lv47 Wizard got him more than halfway just the two of us, maybe we were just lucky

Yes, this is indeed the guy in Maj'Dul and we had no issues attacking him in spot he spawns in either, those flying dudes didnt do anything, maybe because we are faction with those blade dudes as the guy we need to kill is in their area?

Too bad with Ice Comet not being as powerful as the NPCs, that would have rocked, but, alittle unbalanced for sure!

We are gonna try again once we are lv50, so far I noticed that just a single level makes a huge difference on the mobs you are doing, at least for our classes it has. If we still cant I guess we go for a group or try again at lv52 when we can get new crafted armor and jewels.

Thanks again everyone, greatly appreciated.

I remember doing it on my tank just after she dinged 50 had a guildmate who 2 boxes a warlock warden, a couple of his alts guildmates and sk knight I think all mentoring down close enough to me so I'd get the achievement ding I said hail ducked and let the rest have at him. that carpet quest was fun looking forward to doing it now that my Ranger is now 50 so cheep shot works to stun? got to try that when she gets the time to do the carpet quest.

I hate the yutz in the Maj'dul Marketplace. Even now at higher levels with my Brigand, I join carpet groups just so that I can kill him again on principle.

Your main issue with that you're trying to jump a 55^^^ mob with a couple of high 40's characters. Like in any instance of this situation, you're going to be a blood smear. The classication of "^^^ Herioc" infers that a group of characters that are equal in level to the mob's level will be needed. By trying to run both a low count of participating players and being noticeably under leveled for the encounter, you're effectively beating your head against a brick wall.

Also some mobs are effectively under con'ed. In other words, they hit far harder than their level would indicate. Both the marketplace guy and the following dijin quest mobs are prime examples of this situation. Unfortunately there is no real way to know if advance if a mob is under con'ed short of player knowledge and experience. Don't get discouraged when you run into one of these situations. Just gather a full group (with maybe a mentoring character or two) and try it again.

What we did to get more than halfway just the two of us was.. Root, stun, big nuke, stun, root, big nuke and so on. It worked perfect, only reason we died was because of running out of mana and this was done as just the two of us.

I agree though, getting a nicely build group together and do it would make things much easier, if anybody on the Nagafen server want to do part 3 and 4 of the carpet quest please let me know in here. Dont mind helping with the first 2 parts of quest either (theres 4 parts total), must be lv47 to get the quest.
