Game downloads patches but no option to run

<p>I currently built a new duo core computer.  All my drivers are current and I am on windows vista.  I know that on some games (Everquest 2 included) you have to promp it to run in windows XP service pack 2 mode and run as administrator - check.  I knew that without even looking for support.</p><p> Now, I have installed the game and removed and reinstalled 3 times now just because I'm scratching my head on this one.  It lets me log into the launch screen where it downloads the patches.  You guys know that big grey box underneath the download status bar that says [UPDATING] ?  Well after a couple of hours it will say updates complete but the box [UPDATING] Is still greyed out and still says "updating" and not play like it used to when I was on my old PC.  The other funny thing is, sometimes when I close it down and restart, it will begin to download other patches - sometimes the same stuff over again.  </p><p> Either way, the issue is repetitive and it's obviously not a bad install and I can still log in and it works fine on my old XP machine but I really want to know if there's a way I can get around this on my new machine.  Has anyone ever run into this problem and does anyone know of a solution?  </p>

Try this since you are using Vista,1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8.
