new player with update problems

i did a digital purchase of the RoK game to get all the xpacs before it and so it would be the shortest update time (i am correct on that, yes?). well, that was almost 3 days ago and its still been updating the whole time. its gone through lots of parts, i mean it hasnt just been stuck on one file or something. so im wondering if it really gave me the RoK thing. i just loaded the patcher now and its telling me its got another 49 hours, but thats not exact, it goes down and up when it finishes/starts the next file. but still, why have i been updating for almost 3 days now? does anyone know what is going on?EDIT: now whenever i try to start the patcher it just starts at and gets stuck on this fontmorpheus24.xml file. the timer just says :01 second left for ETR and it just sits there. the thing is though it's started on this file almost every time i boot up the patcher and it just sits there. then after about an hour or something, it goes on to patch normally. but before, it used to say like 1000 hours remaining, so im all [Removed for Content]! now though it just says the :01 second remaining and is doing nothing. i dont want to have to start all over and spend another 5 days patching. what is going on? ive had this for almost 6 days now and i still havent been able to play. all i want to do is play <img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

yes my firewalls are allowing it. yes i know my system can run this game. (core 2 duo @ 2x 2.0 ghz, 2gb ram, 2x GeForce 8700M GT). well, thanks for clearing that part about the install. still though, its been updating for almost 5 days now, and every time it finally finishes the morpheus file im getting stuck on now, it just stops updating and says download complete. then when i try again it just starts downloading the same file. well sometimes the same, its always some kind of fontmorpheus file, but sometimes its got Euro thrown into the middle of it. about the bump, im just extremely frustrated right now. I JUST WANT TO PLAY!oh and no, im not using vista

Have you tried to locate that file in your system, delete it and try to start the patcher again?Please don't get snippy at people who try to help...  (kind of hard to read the intention of a post...lol) You didnt give much info in your post so these questions and suggestions are the first thing to do with an issue like this <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src="/smilies/9d71f0541cff0a302a0309c5079e8dee.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />" />  Not to mention that I do not work for SOE, I am just another player trying to help.....I can understand the frustration....  but we are only trying to help..

sorry, i didnt mean to come off like that. ill have you know i greatly appreciate your help, i really do. im going to go and try to locate the file like you suggested, and ill see if that does anything.edit: ok i found the fonts folder a located one named morpheus, deleted it and am now running the patcher again. heres hoping...

alright well the patcher is still getting stuck on the morpheus file. im still gonna let it run in hopes it will finally pass it like it has done before, then start to update normally. in the meantime, i tried that tracert thing but couldnt get it to work. i know im typing in the commands right, but nothing was really happening. i know it says to wait and all but i know how cmd works and nothing is happening.

<p>If you are running Vista</p><p>keep in mind that this helps the MAJORITY of the people, but it may not help everyone with vista.</p><p>first, locate the following files.LP_plugin.exeEQ2.exeEverQuest2.exe</p><p>then for each one, right click them and then choose properties. from there you should see a button to "run as administrator" or something similar, i am not at my vista machine, so i cant remember exactly. in that window, look down it, and a little ways down, you will see a checkbox that does the same thing, but when checked, it runs each time the app is run and does not require you to do it each time it is run. also, there is a checkbox for the compatibility options. check that checkbox, and then make sure it is set to windows xp SP2 in the drop down just underneath it. it defaults to xp SP2, but i am just covering all the bases. then, if there is a button at the bottom of the window that says "apply" click it, then click ok. if there is no "apply" button, then just click ok. </p><p>now, when you run from the shortcut on the desktop, you do not need to set it to run as admin every time you start it, and you should not have the LP_plugin error any longer either.</p>

Could it be that you are missing that font?  In your system that is?  I have no idea on this one....I know that the techies will be in tomorrow...  I wish that you could get in sooner though

your not using a netgear gateway are you? Netgear CG814wg V2?just curious cause my wife and I were on the this one and she also has been downloading the game since last sunday. Wasn't until today when I got rid of that did her download speed increase and no more hang up's.

They sometimes peek in on weekends I think.  But usually Monday-Friday is the best time for them...Have you looked into trying to install that font?  Not exactly sure where you would get it from though.....I will look you back up in the morning.  Hopefully you will be in by then....  Good luck!
