I havent bought this computer yet (thinking of doing so however) but was wondering if it would be able to run on extreme quality and around 30-45 fps or something decent..

Intel® CoreTM 2 Duo Processor E8400 (3.0GHz)

4GB DDR2-800 memory (2GB x 2); max capacity 4GB

ASUS P5KPL-VM Mainboard (motherboard)

320GB (7,200 RPM) SATA 3Gb/s Hard Drive

20x max DVD±RW drive with Double Layer

1GB NVIDIA® GeForce® 8500 GT graphics card

Microsoft Windows VistaTM Home Premium (64-bit)

420-watt power supply

I know some of u may say upgrade the graphics card but I've heard that the 8500 series is pretty good and with 1GB of video ram which would be even better

Plz reply and Thank you! =)

I don't know who told you that the 8500 was a good card. It's a total POS. Sorry to be blunt but it is what it is.Even cards that are 10x as fast as yours cannot run at extreme. Look for a 3850, 3870, 9600, 8800 for even close to what you want.-JBhttp://www.overclockersclub.com/rev...s/8500gt/10.htm

*sigh* well that sucks, what level of setting will i be able to play on if i still have it? A guildie said he can run on balanced very smoothly with the card but only has like 256mb of video ram for the 8500GT, mine is 1GB, would that make any difference at all?

So far Im kind of dissapointed, but I'm getting contradicting responses, some saying it's fantastic and others saying it is a POS...

EQ2 doesn't really utilize the GPU memory very well. It DOES use CPU speed and RAM -- 4GB RAM is pretty decent. When the game was designed, the designers gambled that faster and faster CPUs would come out, and the way the graphics rendering was done relies heavily on that assumption, instead of coding for increasingly better graphics cards. There is a thread in this forum discussing ideal computer setups for EQ2. Check it out.

The 8500 is just a bad card period. The memory on a card means only two things in eq2.256meg = high textures512meg = ultra high texturesYou only need "enough" video memory on a video card to hold the game textures and buffers. Anything more just goes unused. Same goes for system RAM but windows will use extra RAM to buffer your hard drive so at least you get a small benefit to having extra RAM.XP needs 1 gig for EQ2Vista needs 1.5 gig for EQ2Anything more and it just goes to your hard drive buffer.I hate to be blunt again but ANYONE who says that the 8500 is a good card does not know what they are talking about.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compar...rocessing_unitsThe 8500GT can only pump out 3600 textures vs 33600 for the 8800GTIf you are stuck... and I do mean stuck with the 8500 then you can expect medium setting to work but only at the lower resolutions. The 8500GT does have a 128bit bus so at least you have that going for you but it just lacks the pipes to perform. It also only had 8 shaders (special effects) so you really cannot turn on many graphic features or you'll kill the framerate. My guess?at 1024x768 with XP you'll get about 30fps with everything set to medium. Vista will drop that to 25fpsat 1280x1024 (or higher) expect no more than 20fps or 15fps with Vista-JBP.S. What makes the 8500GT a real POS is that for only a few $$$ more you get at least twice the performance.Look at this chart... need I say more?http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/...-score,538.html

My work computer has almost the exact same setup. The only difference is that my work PC has an 8800gt instead of an 8500, and 3gb of RAM instead of 4. On that setup I can run the game at extreme quality with around 40fps in less populated zones and 15-20fps in city areas with lots of other players. Of course, I have all my work applications in the background and dual monitors, so it could be running better.

While I can't say exactly how well it'll run on your computer, that should give you some idea bout how the hardware will perform.
