<p>*raises hand*</p><p>I didn't really have the horsepower in my old PC to run EQ2 to it's full capability when it launched.  One thing I don't remember mentioning in the thread I started "I <3 EQ2" - was how beautiful the game is running VHQ or EQ.  It has richness and detail that most companies can't even come close to in a stand-alone title much less a MMORPG.</p><p>Did  I mention I was back to?  <img src="http://forums.station.sony.com/eq2/images/smilies/e8a506dc4ad763aca51bec4ca7dc8560.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" /></p>

I re-subbed the day before the event, but the event also brought my husband back to Norrath. So 2 from my household.I really did miss this game. It was financial difficulty keeping me away though, not lack of desire to play.

<p>I'm an off and on player (also play EQ and am terrible about splitting time), had allowed my EQ2 account to lapse, but once I saw the promo have come back earlier than I would've normally. Now I'm neglecting EQ again, go figure. <img src="/smilies/8a80c6485cd926be453217d59a84a888.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /> My husband also came back (I've been trying to get him back but he was stubborn about it) and he's been playing as much as me now. The outside zones being more solo-friendly has made him enjoy the game again (that was one of his biggest complaints).</p><p>So add two more to your tally. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" /></p>

It really is good to see all the new people in game and out. One thing to note regarding the count here... only around 10% of the entire player base visits the forums here.. so if the number seems a bit low.. don't feel discouraged.. I'm sure that there are hundreds of other happy returning players in game adventuring as well. <img src="/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" />

<p>I recently came "back" to EQ2.  Back in the day I played EQ1 quite a bit.  When WoW came out, I went to that since my brother dropped EQ1 altogether and 'discovered' that game.  I picked up EQ2 several months later and tried it for a bit (back when you were introduced to the game at sea talking to the boat's crew <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />  It was interesting and fun, but I was still hightly involved with WoW and didn't want to split my time.</p><p>Now that I've pretty much had my fill of WoW (still enjoyable, but it's taking a path I'm not all that interested in following) so I decided to try out EQ2 again.  As always, tradeskills are my main focus and the first time I tried them I only really scratched the surface.  Now I'm delving into them deeper and finding a very interesting system.  I'm only up to using the likes of carbonite and ash (and it still amuses  me to pull 'boiled' leather out of a creature den <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/283a16da79f3aa23fe1025c96295f04f.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY<img src=" width="15" height="15" />  what was that animal eating!) but I'm finding an enjoyable system with useful items.  A far cry from EQ1 where by the time you could make something useful by a level 1, you were level 30 and had already upgraded 2 or 3 times.</p>

Yeah, someone already mentioned about 10% of the playerbase doesn't touch the forums.  So it would be a good estimate to take the count and multiply it by 10 to get a worldwide idea...That being said, if 10% of the player base checks the forums maybe only 1-5% have seen this thread.---This kind of analysis could go on forever - this is just supposed to be a positive thread amongst many negative ones.  Some people are returning (like me) - it is nice to not feel like you are the only one coming back.

Make it 33. since I left about 6 months ago due to lack of population on Oasis. Was discouraging trying to build up a casual work minded guild. I re-subbed about a day before the promotion kicked off. /kicks self in posterior. But I'm happy to be back and have been working hard to build up our guild's membership with all the new folks. Don't know why I ever left the game in the first place, EQ2 is so huge when it comes to things to keep yourself busy!So Current count 33

<p>I just returned a week ago, together with 2 friends. We started playing with new characters on the Splitpaw server, though we are German we prefer the English client. And I found what I missed (excellent and friendly community, great quests and the best game system of any MMORPG around) as well as many new aspects (better engine though could still need some tweaking, new zones, new quests, new motivation).</p><p> What I love the most about EQ2 is - compared to EQ1 - that the devs actually listen to the player base, and try to make as much of their wishes come true as possible. <p>I was here at the start.  I left when they changed the game.  I think I am the only person on this planet that liked the Death penalty ( shard) and needing a group to do things,  and the way you got to try the related classes before you picked which one you liked.  I also liked it when you needed other people when you crafted.</p><p>Anyway I decided to come back and see if its possible to find a guild that actually helps you,  will group with you and does not go away after a few weeks.</p><p>Also I like pugs when I can find one.</p>

I came back with the Legacy promotion, on the Antonia Bayle server.  As an old EQ1 player, I am enjoying running around Faydwer and finding much of the lore intact from the original game (ironically, in EQ1 the lore has been butchered beyond recognition).  I like the changes to the gameplay very much, it is much improved from what it was at launch.  And it is good that the gods are back, finally having forgiven, it seems, the hubris of the "Planes of Power" days.  WoW is getting tiresome - I might just be back to stay.  <img src="/eq2/images/smilies/3b63d1616c5dfcf29f8a7a031aaa7cad.gif" border="0" alt="SMILEY" width="15" height="15" />

<p>Yep, I was coming around to thinking that this was the best MMO I've played previously, until the issues I had with UK customer support. Having come back, over two weeks ago, when the offer started, I can say definitely EQ2 is my favourite MMO. I've played WoW, LotRO, CoX, GW, Eve, but none give as rich and fulfilling an experience as EQ2. I'll definitely be subbing come August!</p><p>I've also noticed a lot of positive comments on other websites. It seems everyone is saying the same thing.</p>

I don't think we would qualify as being part of the count, because we would have come back *eventually* anyway, but --Due to money troubles my wife and I both had to drop our subs for a couple of months.  When we got the e-mail saying that they were giving the free time, there was no way we could resist!  And, it looks like once the time is up we'll be able to resubscribe normally with no problem.  Finding other things to do during that couple of months away was a challenge!

As someone else (and a few others have posted) so much to do, so much to see, why did I ever leave? Eh guess I was burnt out. The Legacy promotion really was a great idea, sadly I only found out about it in a forum post on another website. I think if sony did a mass mail on this or got the word out a bit more you would see even more players. What currently is out there (IE AOC, WOW etc) is just lacking compaired to EQ2. Warhammer looks interesting, but I just don't really see it keeping my attention. While I did love DAOC rvr and War will have such, it just nothing new. </p><p>EQ2 content now and polished game play is just superb, the devs should be proud.</p><p> +1</p>

first and foremost im i guess what i would call an "old school", morpg'er... my 2 true loves to this day are Ultima Online and Everquest... i started EQ2 on launch but soon went and tried a score of other games like Vanguard, Lineage 2, World of Warcraft, Lord of the Rings Online, and most recently Age of Conan... i had lots of good times and met some great people all except for Age of Conan... i guess right now im just wanting to change things up and revisit my old "haunts"... i have allways thougth EQ2 was a beautiful game, and am glad to be back...

I've been back about a week after not playing since around January of 2005. I'm really enjoying the game thus far and will most likely resubscribe after the free trail is over. Coming from WoW I can say this game is a breath of fresh air in every regard especially game play.My only complaint at this point is the low population on the server I'm on, Permafrost. I've met some cool people and joined a really nice guild but it just seems like there aren't very many people playing. When I do a /who 30 40 the most I ever get is 50 or so, sometimes as few as 5 and this is during daytime/evening hours, not 3AM. I realize that the game is top heavy at this point in its life but I was really hoping there would be more people in the lower levels to group with especially considering the free play time.

Returned here, playing on naggy atm.Having an issue maybe someone can help me with, as the GM says he can't(which i completely do not agree with)I have mastercrafted armor tier 4, and you see, the stats have changed tremendously over the last 2 years, to the point that my assassin has crap stats compared to folks LOWER level than me.  MC gear USED to have 2 stat bonuses, now they have 3.  I have asked via petition, not for free gear, but for my gear to be replaced with gear that has the updated(IE new) stats on it.  He said he couldn't blah blah blah, so im faced with a decision, forced by the changes in the game which penalize returning players.Do I REROLL and lose my level 46 char and my OLD STAT MC gear in the process to gain the AA i didnt earn because the system didnt exist yet.OR Keep this char with his craptacular gear(again is makes me very angry they wont replace my hard earned armor with the updated stat armor) and the char with the whole 11 AA pts i have at lvl 47.I feel like im being penalized for returning to the game and that should never happen.Any advice, GM, anyone?W

What the previous poster said about just keep your existing character espically if you like that class. From what I've been reading in the PvP forums NOW that folks get xp from pvp'ing the problems before of folks having maxed out ap's and corpse camping is alot less. Not saying it doesn't happen, just alot less then it use to be cause all of that pvp'ing is forcing folks to level like it or not.

I left for around 6 months or so at the end of 07 and returned about a week ago.Having played many mmorpgs out there I can honestly say that EQ 2 is by far my all time favorite. To me this is the best game on the market for to many reasons to list here , it represents a quality in gaming that is unsurpassed by anything .

Just returned after about a year hiatus. Within my two days of playing I already remember my woes with money, everything being so expensive and me being so poor, quite saddening. But the game is just as fun as ever, having a blast.

<p>Aye.  Me and my brother are also returning players.  So that'll be two to the tally.  </p><p>We've been off and on players through the beginning, DoF, and KoS timelines. (Well a month off for me but close to THE beginning) We've endured the pitfalls and had our happy times.</p><p>If I would've known what kind of expansion RoK was going to be like I would've stuck with EQ2.  The quests are fitting our duo playstyle quite well.  Plus there is more to do in this game.  Housing, languages, lore and legends, writs, and getting those factions up with the writs...etc..</p><p>Ah well.  I get the alloted free time so I can start back up again.  We're up to 74 so far.</p><p>I hope this expansion teaches me to stay this time.</p>

Came back about a month ago. WoW finally bored me beyond tears, and I had good feelings about EQ2, so decided to see if the social aspect of the game, that left me a little wanting last time, had improved.I've found a great guild this time (great both times, but THIS one actually has members!), and am having a blast. Happy to be back!

I sure am glad you started this post.  All I see on these forums are people [Removed for Content] and complaining about Eq2 and how terrible it is. Guess my husband and I are 72 & 73 then. When we left the game we thought we would never return. Now we got the chance for 60 free days and both of us are hooked again.

The funny thing about my friends and I returning is that we gave one of my friends EQ2 & DAoC as "gag" gifts for his bachelor party.  The joke was on us when he said he wanted to play again...2 weeks later - we have 5 accounts reactivated.Edit: these five are around counted in the total.Current Count: 73.

Count me in.  Left during DoF and just came back after a brutal lashing of post WoW rage and AoC disappointment.  My Brig Jeweler is havin' a blast, though it's pretty daunting thinking of being only 23 and looking up towards 80.  Very thankful for the new mid-level content that the recent expansions have provided.  Now if I just had time to go see it all.

<p>Add me to your growing number, I've already set my credit card to resubscribe me come August 1st. I temporarily stopped playing around Christmas while I was temporarily dazzled by the wonder of the XBox 360, I'm looking forward to the next game in several series but I'll never go back exclusively. I really regret missing Frostfell, Erollisi Day and Brew Day this year. I've been playing my new Sarnak since I came back, 2 days after the Legacy started, but my main is an armorer and I've heard those changed a lot. I need to see what has changed, but right now I'm enjoying the Live Events.</p>

I just resubbed - Me and my wife played EQ2 for exactly one week at launch (not a lot of time I admit) before we went over to WoW. Games have come and gone, I recently tried AoC and did not like it. So, I heard about this promotion on Virgin Worlds podcast (thanks Brent) and decided to give it another whirl. I am beyond impressed with the state of the game right now. I resubbed, my wife is trying it out, and 3 of my friends are trying it too. I'm glad to see SOE is turning things around - from what I hear they've done a good job of salvaging Vanguard too.

I jumped back into EQ2 about 3 weeks ago and have been loving every minute of it. Now I never really got to far into EQ2 my first time around. I picked up the game at launch and my friends, brother and I were all gone in less than 2 weeks. The main thing that killed the game for us was the group XP death penalty. The straw that broke the camels back is when a friend died in a group of 4 of us, and me and my bro took a bigger XP than him. We all left that night and jumped to WoW. BIG MISTAKE.I realized after only about 2 months that WoW wasn't the game for me. I started my MMORPG career playing EQ for roughly 3 years and since then I have played a few different games but never had the fun I had back in my EQ days. Part of that is my brother and friends all going our separate ways and enjoying different games and another part of it was that EQ was my first MMO so I eventually got burned out and needed a break from gaming altogether. I ended up staying with WoW a lot longer than intended because thats where my friends were but I finally got fed up and picked up DDO. I played that for a few months then I got my beta invite for LoTRO and have spent the past 16 months playing that game. I love the game world and I love the lore, I just can't help but find the game lacking in many areas. After pushing myself to continue logging in over the past few months, I realized that I wasn't having fun playing the game anymore so I decided to come back to my roots and reintroduce myself to the World of Norrath. By far the best choice I've made in a while! This game has come a long way since launch and has brought the fun back to gaming for me. The overall depth of the game is incredible. It seems almost every aspect of the game is much deeper than most other games out there. The world is beautiful. The ambient sounds of nature help immerse yourself in the game even further.  The lore is amazing and its bringing back so many old memories of EQ that I'm extremely excited when I'm playing and time just flies by. I've also been happy to see that the community here is a rather mature and helpful one. One thing thats always helped make a game for me is the community that surrounds it. As far as the "doom and gloom" and "this game is dying" threads that caused the OP to create this thread in a positive light, you'll find those among every gaming community. I can honestly tell you, IMO, from my 3 weeks back here and the 14 months I've spent in Middle-Earth since LoTRO launched, this game appears far from dying while LoTRO is already on life support.

I have just returned, after a 4 year hiatus.I am absolutely loving all the changes they have made to the game since I last logged in, it is just phenomenal.Getting all the expansions and adventure packs for free really sealed the deal for me, what an exceptional way to entice me back!I would say that I am just bowled over by the awesome amount of negativity that I have encountered on these forums, I think at times some people lose sight of all the things that HAVE been improved.I guess that goes hand in hand with MMO style games, and you just have to learn to let it slide past you.I'm on oasis server, with a brand new necro, having a grand old time. Met several new friends, got an invite to a great guild, and have just generally been enjoying the hell out of things.

I began at release, but took off the past year and a half to play Vanguard (which I still play).  I have Station Access, but I just came back and began playing EQ2 again.  Crushbone seems to be alive and well.

I am planning to come back when I'm financially stable again.  I'll be leaving for the military in a month and won't be back for almost a year, then getting married.  But I hope to be playing again.  I started just before the Bloodline Chronicles came out and played through till after DoF.  Everyone I played with went to WoW so I jumped on the band wagon.  I played WoW for several years and enjoyed it but something seemed to be missing.Honestly, one aspect of the EQ2 I missed the most is the fantastic music.  I would often play WoW with the music off and sub in EQ2 music. So, I hope to be rejoining all of you soon and loving every second of it.( I don't even remember if I still have toons on the account.  Man if I do, there is a serious dusting off I'll need to do.)

Both me and my wife have just returned. We played EQ1 for a few years, and tried EQ2 briefly. We moved out to the country where we only had a horrible dial up service (16k speed at best, 10k average), so we had to quit. We got cable installed a couple of years ago, but never got around to coming back. I heard of the new promotion, and decided to give it a try. We both have enjoyed it a lot, and are now signed back up. We never realized how much this game brings us together. It gives us something to do at night when there isn't anything else going on.

I bought the game at release and played for maybe a fortnight, Living Legacy has bought me back.Being a noob at this stage of the game is great, there is so much to see and do.  I'm figuring to sub until WAR since AoC didn't do anything for me.

<p>I just returned a few months ago after about a 1-2 year leave. Of course, I went out and bought EoF and RoK liek 2 days before they announced that I could get it for free >:{</p><p>I love the changes and think they've been doing well with keeping the game entertaining. Part of the satisfaction probably comes from palying a new class.. I notice that the poor fighters are still grossly unbalanced and un-needed. </p><p>I spent awhile on WoW so I could play with my family in-law and after I saw how terribly and utterly LAME it was, tried to convince them to come back to EQ2 with my wife and I. We're working on them, they still think that it's the same game it was at launch... when I look at the pros and cons between the two games though, it's no contest. Anyone still playing WoW is a fool.</p>
