I'd like to login and play some EQII, but after the patch I can no longer get in. The patcher says "update complete", but the "PLAY" button never appears. Any suggestions?

This error typically appears when vista is blocking the download. I have included the steps to correct the issue, assuming you are running vista. If you are not using that operating system then please respond and we can look into other possibilites.

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon.

Sometimes the Windows Vista security software can interfere with the patching progress of our games. In this situation, it might be Windows UAC (User Account Control) that is not allowing the game to patch correctly. For the purposes of security, you will only want this feature disabled for the purposes of patching and should re-enable it after the issue has been resolved.

Type msconfig in the search box on the Start Menu and press enter on your keyboard. 2. Click the tools tab in the System Configuration box. 3. Scroll down the list and highlight ‘Disable UAC' then click Launch. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Run the patcher. You can enable UAC by following the steps above but highlight ‘Enable UAC'

Thanks for the quick response. However, I'm running Windows XP SP2 - not Vista. Any other suggestions? What other information might help?

Edit: Each time I launch the patcher, it attempts to download a file called vivoxsdk.dll. It may not be completing that download, even though I'm getting the "update complete" message.

This problem began with the GU46 update; I had no prior problems running the game. Also note that I run EQII on two different machines - a desktop and a laptop - and both are having the same problem. Both run Windows XP SP2 and connect through the same network, but have little else in common. If the problem hasn't been solved by Saturday, I may have the chance to bring the laptop to a friend's house, and so will try to connect using a different network (and different ISP).

Thanks, Balerius! You seem to be on the right track. I was successful getting the first two files, but the URL does not work for the 3rd one (LP_Diagnostics.exe.gz). Internet Explorer is unable to open the site. I'm still stuck.

Sorry it didn't help. The files for which I had to do the procedure that I described were vivoxsdk.dll, alut.dll, ortp.dll, and wrap_oal.dll.

Unfortunately, there has been another minor patch since I used the procedure that I described; for all I know that may have compounded the problem somehow.

If it happens again you may want to bypass your router while updating. This assumes you have a router of course. If you are unable to download the files when entering the web address into a browser then that is the most likely cause.

Thanks
