Apparently the servers have been busy for over a month. I have an account I share with my wife who is in Texas. I am in Afghanistan. She has no trouble getting in the game however just when I'm about to enter zone after downloading everything it kicks back to the "trying login server #1...#2...#3....etc." and then I get "could not connect to login server. The servers must be busy. Please try again in a few minutes. I have no trouble gettin in to EQI and my wife in Texas has no trouble loggin in my character...I just can't do it in South Central Asia. My characters are on Guk and Befallen. Any thoughts on this? Any one else having the same problem?

Hokus Pokus

Any problems in the past day or so could relate to the fact that Firefox 3 was released yesterday and several people have been downloading it.

Auto/Proxy reset had no effect. FireFox may not be the issue as I have been having this problem since mid May.

The patcher and the game require specific non-standard ports to be opened for them to work. In the case of the patcher TCP port 7000 is required for connectivity, if this port is not opened you will recieve this message. The knowledge base on the forum has the entire range of ports that are required for the game to function, including some ICMP protocols that are required.

One side not to look at - verify that IE is not set to work offline and is up to date.

If you could post a tracert and pathping we can probably see where the error is lying at.Open up the Start menu, choose the Run command, type "command" in the space provided, then hit Enter. If you're using Win2k type "cmd" instead of command. For Vista, "type command" at the search bar on the bottom of the Start Menu. The MS-DOS Prompt window should appear with the prompt, "C:windowsdesktop". For Win98/ME or Win2K/XP/Vista, type the following three DOS commands, one at a time, hitting Enter between each command, and waiting for the prompt to reappear: ipconfig /all > c:eq2info.txt tracert unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt pathping unrest.everquest2.com >> c:eq2info.txt (This may take a few minutes to complete) Finally, upon completion of these commands, you will find a file labeled "eq2info.txt" on the root level of your C: drive. You can use the Find command from the Start menu to locate it. Open the newly generated file (c:eq2info.txt) and copy and paste the information here.
