So I have this problem that happens whenever I get a new computer and download the patcher and let it download the entire game. It seems to not get all the files, and no matter how many times I run a full file scan it seems to never pick up the ones that I'm missing. I usually just take a copy of the game off my last computer and then run the patcher.

Today, I tried to patch and enter the new Runnyeye. I haven't had this problem after getting the game to successfully run until today. It did not download any of the new Runnyeye files, and crashed with the following message (also logged to verifylog.txt):

build="SOEBuild=4926T" version="SOEVersionString=2008/6/16 14:06:15" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="runnyeye_advanced" loc="-97.42 -27.44 57.52" performance="7" verify="E:testeq2gameclientsrcGameScene.cpp(4143): Failed to create zone. Suggestion: Please do a full scan from the patcher."

I also had this message logged to alertlog.txt:

build="SOEBuild=4926T" version="SOEVersionString=2008/6/16 14:06:15" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="runnyeye_advanced" loc="-97.42 -27.44 57.52" performance="7" alert="E:testeq2gamegamecommonclientGameWorld.cpp(249): Failed to load room volume lookup table for world runnyeye_advanced"build="SOEBuild=4926T" version="SOEVersionString=2008/6/16 14:06:15" build_type="USER OPTIMIZED" ls_address="none" zone="runnyeye_advanced" loc="-97.42 -27.44 57.52" performance="7" alert="E:testeq2frameworkscenegraphsrcVeSoundNode.cpp(620 ): ERROR - Unable to load sound nodes from 'Zones/runnyeye_advanced/runnyeye_advanced_sounds.voc'."

I took a look at PatchCache2.xml, and the new Runnyeye files are in there with their respective CRC etc, but it never downloaded them. I turned off my antivirus and tried running the patcher as well.

I ran a full file scan a few times and still no luck. My laptop patched properly so I just played from that since I had a group waiting on me.

Here's my patch log: (had to rename the .log files with .txt extention b/c I block certain file extention on my web server)

http://www.randomhost.org/eq2proble...t2Patch.log.txt

I don't see the new Runnyeye files listed in the log from tonight in there. They are listed in PatchCache2.xml:

http://www.randomhost.org/eq2proble...PatchCache2.xml

Here's all the files that were altered durring my last full filescan:

http://www.randomhost.org/eq2problem/

What can I do to get the launcher to actually get the right files in the future?

A few suggestions.If you can know the files already, go ahead and delete them, so that the patcher can get the proper ones.Have you tried the Beta Launcher? http://launcher.station.sony.com/Also verify that all ports are properly opened and firewalls have the eq2.exe added to the allowed lists. EverQuest II LaunchPad and Patch Servers A TCP connection is initiated to patch.station.sony.com at port 7000. A UDP connection is initiated to port range 3016-3021 and 9700-9703. EverQuest II Patch: A TCP connection is initiated at port 7010. EverQuest II Game Client: UDP connections are initiated from the EverQuest II client on UDP ports 9100, and UDP ports in the range 32800-33000. Additionally, ICMP messages type 0 (echo reply), 3 (unreachable), 8 (echo request) and 11 (expired) should be permitted bi-directionally between the client PC and the EverQuest II servers.

I'll try that launcher next time...

I'm 99.99% sure I didn't have any issue with firewall or routing...think the launcher is just skipping files, it has a tendancy to skip some of the Qeynos zone files when doing a fresh install from running the patcher, I've done it from multiple locations trying to get it to work on a brand new computer before.

I run a pentium III 600mhz machine with 2 nics and win 2k server on it and RRaS for a router and BlackIce Defender for a firewall on it so I can pretty much see anything that it may be blocking...haven't seen it complain about any of the ports or addresses you listed before but I'll also make sure all traffic is allowed from those sources. I check the NAT mappings from time to time and those ports usually get mapped out fine to the respective addresses and back in.

Thanks for the info I have a feeling using the different launcher next time it happens will do the trick.
