Just thought I'd drop by here to say hello. I did the trial and enjoyed it a lot. I'm a fairly casual player, just play for relaxation; I'm moderately experienced with MMOs. I've played WoW, EVE, Vanguard, Guild Wars, City of Heroes and Age of Conan and while these last two are my favourites, I've been playing CoH for a long time and have been looking for a new "home" MMO. AoC is excellent for a casual player, but I usually like to have 2 MMOs going at the same time for a change of atmosphere, and I also fancied a more traditional style MMO too. For some reason I never got around to trying out this game till now. Glad I did, and I've now bought the game. I love the general atmosphere, the graphics and music, and the world seems huge and rich in lore, and the gameplay seems nice so far.So my question: I've levelled a Wizard to lvl 9, and am in Qeynos, and I'm kind of at a loss as to what to do in terms of going somewhere to carry on my adventure. I've explored a fair bit but can't seem to find a nice chain of quests to keep me occupied. Are there any zones around my level that have good, continuous quest chains with good stories?TIA

The normal path for a Qeynosian is to level to 10 in the newbie areas, then quest in Antonica and the linked instances to level 20, then do the same in Thundering Steppes.

That said, many people instead move on to Timorous Deep as soon as they are able to as that area apparently has much better rewards in terms of treasure and quest armor. For a good aligned player that means taking the Griffin from Butcherblock.

Having high stats is nice, but its no good if you get one-shotted cos your mitigation is so low.

If youre a mage or healer or scout to a certain extent you can prob get away it, but not as a tank.

Actually if you do all the quests the last pieces of armor have 22+ mitigation, but again you have to do ALL the quests in order to get the last pieces of armor

Have you been to Oakmyst Forest and Forest Ruins? I seem to remember levelling up there before going to Antonica. Most of the Oakmyst Forest quests will be below you now but there will still be some worth doing. There are the Caves as well for grouping.
just got a SK to Tim Deep and the lvl 10 quest armor gives like 52 mitigation and a ton of hp and power

I moved my ranger from Kelethin to TD when he was 12 and it has been great to see the difference in the quality of the rewards from there, hell, even some quests give coin rewards of 13 silver, that alone is nearly 20% of the total coin I have at level 15! Though I never have coin, I don't know where it goes, but never had it.

TD is fast and straightforward levelling, and if you are not getting the MC gear, it has very good gear, having said that, the MC gear is much better than TD gear.TD has some nice fun quest rewards, such as Grassgalor and the pet monkey as well
MC gear? what's MC gear? Mastercrafted?Well not sure a newb can afford to pay <strike>50 gold</strike> 3 plat for the rares+ a few gold for the fuels...P.S there is also a quest that will give you a pet griffon that actually attacks... it's only lvl 10 but it sure helps a lot... It lasts for 1 min and has a 4 min recast

You should be harvesting everything you see as you wait to heal up between fights, as you travel, while you wait for group members. Save the rares and ask a player crafter to make stuff out of them for you! Most crafters ask for fuel cost + a tip. I would figure on the tip being at least as much as the fuel cost. Also, ask your crafters if they'll work a deal with you - I know I will sometimes waive fuel costs if the player commissioning work wants to give me a stack or two of raws I need instead. From level 20 up, there are harvesting tools that speed up harvesting. Woodworkers make some. Tinkers make better ones, but the tinker ones are tied to your crafting level. The really cool part of this is that whatever rares (and common raws) you don't need yourself you can sell for VERY good prices on the broker. I dunno why people play the Goblin Lotto - harvesting is more exiting and has a MUCH better rate of return. A dedicated harvester can make LOTS of plat for very little effort.

I really suggest you go to Timorous Deep. When you land there, that's not where you start your quest. The place you landed is called Gorowyn, that's a city filled with elevators, avoid it for now, very confusing. You should get a griffon and fly to Chryoki island, then keep going east till you hit the ocean. It's so hard to describe, it's better you get someone to lead you there, then start the quest Lv 1 quest. The quest is organized in a neat storyline, so it's not messy and its very time efficient, the rewards are amazing, im lvl 30 still wearing some.
I just finished TD with a SK and all i can say is that it rocks.I got to lvl 18 in what seemes to be a second, now i have over 1200 Health, 900+ Power, almost 600 Mitigation AND 450 Avoidance.I have 10 AA points and gear to last me till i hit 30.oh... with the gear i got there i can solo mobs 4 lvl's bigger than me...It's the perfect place to be if you start a new character.Oh Oh... made 3 gold to just from the quests

Voozoo@Crushbone wrote:
just got a SK to Tim Deep and the lvl 10 quest armor gives like 52 mitigation and a ton of hp and power
The mitigation number means absolutely zero if the mob your fighting is about 10 levels over your armors level. If your say lvl 30 hover your pointer over your Mit number, you will see a mitigation percentage. Now go get some NPC vender statless armor that is lvl 30, put this on and hover over the Mit number, even if the number is lower then the TD number, you will see the percentage go up. This is because a mob that is a higher level then your armor gets a bonus for being over the level of your armor(the reverse is also true if your armor is of a higher lvl then the mob it will mitigate More damage). This is why lvl 80 Raid gear allows Tanks to take hits from mobs that one shot a tank who is not in Raid gear but has the same Mit, the Effective level of Raid gear is accually above level 80.
