I bought Glow of the Sea with my note..... it did nothing at all. What's the deal? Was very disappointed. Is this a bug?

Yeah, it is the same thing with me... I thought that it might have been my particle effects, but it doesn't seem to do a thing at the moment...

its a blue light source, and a bright one at that.

Make sure your lighting / player torch # is above 1 or some such.

well I got one of the other 2, Flame of Passion. it does nothing either. no particle effect, no emote, no lighting, nothing. I put my lighting to max and 4 torch lights and got no effect. turned illusions on, nothing.Sure these charm slot items aren't bugged?

The color shows up on other surfaces not as a particle effect.

Passion of flame give out pinkish light and on a balanced setting I see it quite well.

You also need to be sure you have no other light sources equiped because they will drown out these two light sources (especially white light).

No other light sources, took off all other effects, nada. And my setting are high, so that's not it either.

Not sure what to tell you then unless you're just not looking at the light at the right time of day? You can't really see the light during the day either it is that subtle of a blue. The only way I was able to notice it when I bought it on test was because when I put it on, I took off all my other light sources and was standing near the corner where the NPC stands, AND is was nighttime. And yes, the "passion" pink is just as subtle.

If you have seen other threads ... you need to start live event quest with a Concordium adept standing near the void storms around various zones. Having done that, get 2nd (repeating) quest from the Seeress to get the notes to buy the items.

Can someone post a screenshot of one of these working?

Another way to test these items is to go stand right in front of a wall in a darkish room. You will see either blue or pink light being shone onto the wall. If it's still not obvious, remove the item while still standing in that same spot and you'll notice that the wall gets less blue or pink.

I bought the [Heat of the Ruby] last night. It was just a torch with red light >.<

Yes all those 3 stones suck hard... What they do is make a odd light on the ground and around u when equiped but you need to go to Options and adjust in the Light(Lighting?) tab your torch intensity. If you really want to see what they do you need to almost max out the torch intensity and then you'll see the effect.

It's really not much... just like a normal light but it's colored... Blue, Red or Pink depending on your stone.

Got them all 3 since i love illusions and effects and was really dissapointed to see that they are actually just colored torches...

It's soooo subtle I still can't see it even in the pics. O well.

Player Torch Intensity = max

then u'll see it.... well... kinda... stuff around u will be colored pink red or blue depending on the stone u equip...

but if u didn't get it don't waste your "cupons"... not worth it

(( I also was baffled as to their uses until i cranked my settings to max.The wording on them should be redone to read something like 'A pale blue light source' or 'a vivid pink light source' (in the detailed description...I'm almost positive every single person who attempted the Void Storms events bought one expecting Particles floating around the player, and was dissapointed.---

-Arctura- wrote:
I'm almost positive every single person who attempted the Void Storms events bought one expecting Particles floating around the player, and was dissapointed.
I can honestly say, that yes, I was hoping for more "fiery" passion with my passion lightsource. Pink flames ftw!And out of curiosity Arctura, why do you put that oversized pic at the end of all your posts? I'm guessing it's meant to be a sig pic but doesn't meet parameters so you're just embedding it at the end of each of your posts, but it really messes with the thread's width integrity because it's too long. shrink or shorten it, and it's no big deal.

Increasing your contrast setting under options will make all light sources in the game immediately more vibrant and much more noticeable. If you are using a jacked up gamma setting as many people do, light sources become far less noticeable as everything washes out. Increasing contrast and reducing gamma will alleviate that. However, it also makes any shadow much darker, so you have to decide if the trade off is worth it.

Just wanted to put this up to show the differences in the lights. It was night when I took the screenies so this is why the color is showing up so well. During the day, the lighting is still visible, but it's far more subtle. I might edit in a daytime comparison collage as well later. In order of color from left to right...Glow of the Sea > Passion of Flame > Heart of the Ruby > Regular torch lighting
