View Full Version : I may have done a stupid thing...
My wife and I enjoy EQ2.Recently, we acquired a new pc, so that we can game together. Previously, we shared the same PC, playing at different times. Prior to purchasing the new PC, I went out and bought a new copy of EQ2 and loaded it on the original PC (so that we could both have our accounts and complete character slots). Now, after I loaded my copy of EQ2 on the new PC, I try to register it and it tells me that the key has already been used! When downloading the updates it locks and cancels the download (I assume because the game is not registered?) I even tried the key to my original game, but of course, that comes up used already as well.Do I have to go buy another copy of the game, cancel my second account and set up a new one? Did I really screw this up? Thanks for any reply.

the big question is... what station account were you logged onto when you first tried to enter the registration key for the newly purchased software. If you were logged onto your old account at the time, you likely registered the new software on the old station account as (essentially) an upgrade to whatever you already had installed.

If it allowed you to put 2 RoK keys on the same account I'd call Customer Support to ask them to move the key to the new station account. I would assume the duplication would be self evident if the software is the same on each.

Thanks for replying, Mezz, I really do appreciate the help.Seems that I can log into the game by bypassing the lauchpad. Everything runs fine then.Something in the Launchpad is stopping the Download - I thought it might be the registration, but it apparently is not. I've removed and added all EQ2 apps in my firewall (zone alarm) so that did not do it. Unless anyone has any ideas, I am going to keep messing with it. At least I can still play.

If so, its likely that your download is getting blocked by your operating system. I'm going to include the steps I use to set up a computer for compatibility with Vista. I apologize if you are not running that OS, but its the usual cause of this problem.

1. Right click on the program launch icon2. Left click on "Properties".3. In the new window that pops up click on the "Compatibility" tab.4. In the "Compatibility Mode" area check the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"5. In the drop down list make certain that "Windows XP (Service Pack 2)" is selected.6. Under "Privilege Level" make certain that the box next to "Run this program as administrator" is checked.7. Click on "Apply" then click on "Ok".8. Double click on the program launch icon.

Sometimes the Windows Vista security software can interfere with the patching progress of our games. In this situation, it might be Windows UAC (User Account Control) that is not allowing the game to patch correctly. For the purposes of security, you will only want this feature disabled for the purposes of patching and should re-enable it after the issue has been resolved.

Type msconfig in the search box on the Start Menu and press enter on your keyboard. 2. Click the tools tab in the System Configuration box. 3. Scroll down the list and highlight ‘Disable UAC' then click Launch. 4. Restart your computer. 5. Run the patcher. You can enable UAC by following the steps above but highlight ‘Enable UAC'

If this did not fix your issue, or have any further inquiries, please contact us again.
