i used to play WoW and was an addict for a 2 years and have been clean for 8months or so. but i am moving so my friends are trying to get me into eq2. so my question is which class levels solo fast and is good at pvp. i dont like the super involved classes where you have to keep your mouse over a button and spam it 20 times a second. and i liked being ranged dps. so it looks like wizard is good but i was also looking at a summoner class or ranger. i dont have my heart set on any class yet so which ones would you guys suggest for that play style. oh and i am not planning on being a raiding at all. i get on for 2omins-2hours at a time and i never know which one it will be, and i feel like a jerk ditching parties.

If you really have your heart set on pvp (big mistake, I promise) then get any thoughts of a mage out of your head right now. Done? Alright, rangers do decently, but aren't really the best soloers in the world. A summoner may be what you're looking for, but again in all honestly pvp is so broken in this game that anything that relies on spells to attack is nearly worthless. For soloing skill, go for the summoner I say. But for pvp, there's no beating scouts, especially rogues and to a lesser degree predators.

I thought monks were pretty good at leveling fast.

Pvp is very screwing in eq2. Best pvp's from my knowledge are rogues and wardens. Casters suck at pvp, i heard a while back wizards are good caster to pick if your heart is set on it. As stated above casters are at a disadvantage. Resists for magic compared to resist for melee are not balanced. A nekkid toon has a better chance to resist your ice comet then your able to resist any ca/attack fully clothed and buffed. So be prepared to be owned. For soloing sorcerers are pretty good and quick, root and nuke works. summoners and chanters if specced for dps dont have it hard at all. Fury and brawlers are also good solers.
