okay, i've been looking at Swashies for awhile now and i have a few questions.they are pretty simple i'd think..

NOTE: i'm 13 years old so bare with me on typos.

1) would a Sarnak or Ratatonga Swashie be alittle absurd? i know you have to betry and i'm willing to do that. i just thought it'd be odd to see a Sarnak or Ratatonga as a Swashie. if there is a better race as a Swashie to be than a Sarnark or Ratatonga, what is it? - - in the means of racial traits - -

2) Swashies aren't fully dependent on Poison right? because i noticed the Poison Chart sticked and it doesn't mean swashies live off of poison right? not that i have a problem, but i'd just liek to know if that is an option type thingy. if you understand what i mean...?

3) Swashbucklers are good solo'ers, right? i don't want to be a Group-Dependent class because i can't get intouch with a group 24/7.

4) what would be a good AA line to follow for a Swashie? i solo more than group, and i plan on doing raids. so it's like a little bit of everything. i heard a good AA line is maxing out both STR and AGI. it leaves 2 AAs left to use for anything.

5) Swashies, ftw?

A swashy is a very very fun class. I have played Zerkers up to 70, a Mystic up to 80, and my swashy up to 80, along of course with dozens of other toons to various Tiers in the game. I would have to say, swashy is my favorite. Its a culmination of all the different aspects of it. Some people really like to sit back and drop massive DPS from afar, some people love the root and nuke thing. For me, i love the swashy, cuz its a get up in your face and cause massive chaos (at the same time doing a bit of damage as well ) I love to cause such massive confusion and make the other player (PVP server that is) confused and then all of a sudden, dead. When your getting hit by a mage, you pretty much no it. You get a chain sound, you cant move, you sit there and watc your health go down. When you get hit buy a swashy, man its like a bolt of lightning... getting knocked down and all around and thrown about and dropped targets repeatedly. Its just chaos. A swashy can really get in there and get the job done and allow other classes to do their thing, while creating havoc.

As for the AA line. AGI and Reach should be your Number 1 priorities in life. Everything in AGI line is awesome, reach is great for a number of reasons, as it gives you a "reach out and touch someone" ability when your rooted or someone is running away. As for STR line, its a great line as well, awesome all the way down. I also go all the way down INT line, as Feign Death (100 percent chance) is absolutely priceless to have in anything you do, whether is solo instances or PVP all the time... FD allows you to do so much more and if you accidentally take more then you can chew, your not respawning and running back... you just FD, regroup and start again right where ya left off.

As for grouping, Swashys MAKE the group IMO... They are very versatile, as you can track, evac, do massive damage, smuggle (which is huge). You end up (at least in PVP) running the group, as you have the track, you have the ability to Mez, so you need to call the shots, on where the PVP is, who is gonna go down first, and who needs to do what. The tank (if you have one) takes the beating while you do your nasty work. Its a great class.

And unlike other classes, Swashys do NOTHING for the group besides a ship ton of DPS and debuffs no buffs for the group, no extra STR or anythign for the tanks or priests or mages... nothing to contribute besides a massive massive amount of damage.

As for race? I just cant make any race besides Arasai or Fae. People make fun of how they look, well guess what, at lvl 30 (or something) you get a permanent Half Elf form, so you never have to see your fae / arasai again. The Fae get the 50 percent run boost for 36 seconds, permanent safe fall, glide which allows you to both get away and get to bad guys much easier, 5 percent run boost, etc etc... and when your in the middle of a huge zone, such as RoK zones, and you see someone below you off the Sokokar as you fly above them at 10000 feet... no worries, its just jump and death from above, they REALLY dont see ya coming

Swashy's do a great amount of damage with poisons, but you dont HAVE to have them to do a lot of damage, your jsut not using a tool which is given to you, but you will still out parse almost all other classes without poisons, and with them, good bye world..

hi,1. play whatever race you want, in the end game it doesn't really matter.2. no we aren't fully dependent on poison but it is part of our dps so you'll end up using it. However I didn't even bother with poison till I was in my 50's though I did have some on hand just in case I needed the extra dps for something.3. Yes, I soloed 90% of my way from 1 to 70, grouping mainly to kill nameds for AA exp.4. If your on a pve server then yeah, go with Agi/Str till your 70. Then play around with different specs, I like Agi/Int/Str or Agi/Str/Sta.5. Yes, swashy is the best class

It's the funnest class to play if you're into getting into the thick of things, and doing lots of damage to multiple enemies. As far as I am concerned, the class is so so until you get Hurricane and the swashy skills start defining the class more.As for race... you picked Ratonga? Booo.... Dark Elf man. Dark Elf. You get hover.... which is cool, but you get another skill which increases your attack speed, crit chance, etc increasing your dps by a fair chunk. That and Ratonga smell like pee whereas dark elves smell like................... er.... dark elves.

bah go halfling for the swash. And how are u gonna be an evil class and be a swash lol? Anyway id choose a class that has a crit % increase as well as the poison increase. As for poison all scouts are dependent on it. You should always use it because it can really save ur [Removed for Content] sometimes. And drops the mob quickly. Expecially with a swash who raises his attack speed so much with all the skills he has.Swashies are really good soloers. They can turn the mob around, put 3 attacks into its back, stealth stun it, aoe a whole grp twice to kill everything, and can go nuts in speed. You just have to get a feel for all your spells to get them into an order so that you can just rip the hate right off the tank and make em look bad, turning it every which way, and then throw it back at the tank effortlessly once it hits you once lol.Good aa starting out is Agi foremost as its gonna give you walk the plank. A must for a swash as it turns the mob around. And then the str line. Later on you'll want to go down I think sta or wis for lunge reversal and such. But thats once you hit like 70 where you can get a really nice fabled 1 hander and leave your secondary empty. Adds onto the dmg you do when something parrys your attack and such.As for raiding. I can pretty much garentee you'll be able to find a spot. 1 thing every raid looks for is a swash and a brig. They differ in what they do but a swash can just go faster then hell. Brigs get to be pretty fast to, but swashies have more, and when it all stacks up with en gaurd, and the added dmg for each attack landed as well as the increase in attack speed and your bravado kicking in. It's just amazing the dmg a swash can do in that duration of time.

Just about any race you decide to do would be fine. Some have more useful racial abilities, but the value in being different trumps that I think. When the froglock race was released, I created a froglock swashy and got him up to L58 right before Kingdom of Sky came out. I only knew one other 30+ froglock swashy at the time. It was a blast just having a different look than everyone else.

All scouts should use poison. You can be effective without it while leveling up, but by the time you hit 30+, poisons on the broker are cheap enough to have on all the time. To save money, only use the caustic poison. And I have found that the mater-crafted poison is often not much more than the hand crafted version. You will use only about 1-2 poisons per level in the 30's to mid 40's if you are questing a lot. And you should quest a lot in order to get your APs.

Swashy's solo great, but have some trouble taking down heroic mobs. As long as you are fighting intended-to-solo mobs, you will have no trouble. You can level very fast just doing quests, solo mobs, and discoveries. With stealth, you can sneak into most places in the game. With escape, you can get out if things go bad. With the many AA and base abilities for AOE damage, you can handle adds without a problem. Mez one, two AOEs, +def, +parry, auto riposts, auto-from-back,hurricane(52). Hurricane is like crack, btw. You will want to grab extra mobs just to not waste the hurricane attacks.

STR and AGL can both be used with either STA or WIS. I found I prefer Wis for the auto-parry/riposts, extra DPS, and extra defense. I am very addicted to Walk the Plank from the agility line. I wish I had tried out agility earlier just for that one power. The extra defense and +crit from Strength is also very nice. Right now I am Wisdom / Agility. Even with "only" a master crafted imbued weapon, my damage output is fine. With the 70+ weapons, it will move from fine to great.

I love playing a swashy. You are in the middle of everything, jumping around, grabbing agro and losing agro as you see fit. You will do very nice DPS, and have wonderful debuffs to put on the mob. Many other classes buff up everyone, which you will be able to benefit from. But your job is to debuff the mobs to make them easy to kill. Your attacks are all interesting mixes of damage and debuffs. Learning which does what and benefits who is an important skill.

I hope you enjoy your new swashy!
