Randomly dropping to character select [Archive]

It happens every once in a while since at least wensday (we noticed it that day). We haven't noticed any pattern. However after this drop we can't log back in on the character right away. The game says it's attempting to log onto zone server, then goes back to character select. We can log on another character if we want. But to go back on the character that dropped, we need to restart the game completely. It happened in all zones and expensions we've been to these 2 days, on any of our characters. Rebooting or resetting internet connection doesn't change anything. Happens at least to me, my wife and a guildie... we all have different computers set up. Posting mine there : My wife and I share our internet connection (i don't know if our guildie does) using the windows XP options, we have the Orange livebox (France) for modem and are using windows firewall.We play on Antonia Bayle. Greetings,As a first step you will want to remove eq2 and the launchpad from your firewall's exception list. Once you've done that, add them back on. Its possible that your firewall is currently interfering with your connection because of the way that firewall works, but that procedure will usually fix the problem.. Let us know if the issue persists at that point

Have you tried to bypass the router yet, and try with just one PC? Added EQ2.exe to windows firewall?You can also try and delete the following charcter UI filesServername_CharacterName_EQ2_uisettings.iniSt ationname_characters.ini

I've tried disabling the firewall. Changing the settings with all your suggestions.With one PC running only.Deleting the UI files.Still happening...I don't see how i could bypass my router... as the livebox is my modem, i can't connect to the internet without it (and i have nothing else that could fit the description of a router).

It definately seems that you have something that is functioning as a router. You may want to use the site below and see if your hardware is on the list. If it is then select it and then select Everquest 2. It will explain how to set up port forwarding for your network.
