Hello all-

So here are the specs of my PC currently.

Currently Installed Memory: 1.5GB

Available Memory Slots: 0

Number of Banks: 2

Dual Channel Support: No

CPU Manufacturer: AuthenticAMD

CPU Family: AMD Athlon(tm) 64 Processor 3700+ Model 4, Stepping 10

CPU Speed: 2399 MHz

Then Graphics-

Nvidia Geforce FX 5950 Ultra 256 MB AGP card.

I will be upgrading memory to full 2GBs as that is my systems max, and Plan on grabbing a Nvidia Geforce 7600 GS 512MB card. Will I ever be able to run EverQuest 2 in Max at a functional Framerate?

This is my current setup:
RAM: 2GB

CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (E4300) 1.80GHz

CPU Speed: 2399 MHz

Video Card: Geforce 8600GT 256MB Ram
With these settings, I still have to play at balanced (with a few custom eye candy tweaks to make things better looking) if i want to sustain 30fps, with just occasional hiccups. And I'm a noob in lonely areas, not sure how it will behave in heavily populated raids.

Alright, Thanks for replying my message, Was curious and you cleared it up for me .

With these settings I can average about 25FPS in Balanced with Flora and Cloth Simulation off. With those on (Flora Particularly) I only average at about 15 FPS , And I lag badly in Teren's Grasp when using Sokokar post. Badly to the point where my Sokokar despawns and leaves me in the middle of air above the ramp into Teren's Grasp. Hoping that when I get my new ram Loadtimes will be quicker and when I get new card (cause this one is glitching worse and worse each day) That I can run in at least High Quality with a Minimal Interface UI (Fetish). Thank you for your info and happy hunting =)

I can play on max with a bit of lag. My normal running set up is custom settings at max with some downgrade in render distance and shadows off. I usually end up with shadows off but I can run them if I feel like it. For example in Neriak in windowed mode I get 25-30 fps average.

System specs :

OS: Win XP 64bit

RAM: 4GB

CPU: Intel Quad Core 2.4 mhz

Video Card: Geforce 8500GT 512MB Ram

On a side note I can run both my EQ2 accounts at once on balanced (I have 2 screens) or EQ2 and Age of Conan with settings tweaked (no shadows, texture size down slightly but still with cloth simulation and reflections) Doing either of these gets me some lag but nothing I can't work with.

And I am always surfing the net as well and streaming online radio.

As current hardware advances, EQ2 will run worse, and worse. Sorry to burst your bubble You can have a PC that plays Crysis on max settings, yet chugs while playing EQ2 struggling for even 30 fps.EQ2 isn't 64 bit and therefore won't utilize more than 3.5GB of ram (or somewhere close to around there)EQ2 doesn't utilize dual core (shame, seeing as how EQ2 is one of the most CPU intensive games ever I swear)EQ2 doesn't utilize SLI or Crossfire technology, even if it did EQ2 doesn't use the GPU for much of anything.I love EQ2, I really do, and will play it no matter what because I am an addict, and don't like any other MMO I try, and I've about tried them all. It's pretty, highly detailed, but lacking in using the change of technology. I play on max everything, without environmental shadows, and runs decent solo. Group, character shadows off. Raid, Complex shaders off.Until anyone can prove their quad core machine can play EQ2 like they say with FPS in the screenshot, they are full of crap Anyways... I just found this pic in my Old EQ2 screenshot folder. I love the look of the world when it rains!!!!! /droooooooooooooool

Try turning shadows off, that helps a bit.... Other then that, I would try posting in the support forums...

Try turning things to max performance and then start adding things one at a time to get the best setting for your system. Go from the bottom and work up.

Watch the framerates as you change things (some things will require a restart to see the change) move around and try different zones to get the best feel for how well your settings are working. Add things slowly till it gives you an acceptable framerate and good visuals. It also helps to change only one thing at a time... takes awhile, but if you turn on something that causes a crash or other issues with the game you will know which setting did it.

Each system is different even when comparably equipped and one will always hiccup at something another wont. I think that running balanced, high perf, or high quality are a good baseline but tweaking the settings for what works best for you makes more sense.

The two first settings I turn on are cloth simulation and specular lighting and then tweak the settings from there, to me those are the two settings that make the game look so much better to me, then after that I adjust for performance.

I don't even bother with shadows because its so buggy and drops out on its own for no apparent reason so its hard to adjust for performance with them on.

You would need to run XP64 Pro in order to utilize what you have. Also because EQ2 is still 32 bit it (they tried to put a bandaid on it for 64bit vista users) can cause out of memory errors when it tries to go over 2 gigs. When it does it may cause an error crash. Hence many people are seeing the out of memory error when it hits the 2 gig cap. and especially if you are useing more then 2 gigs in a machine. This has been a continual problem since release and the tend to break it about once a year. The end result is that this game is old. The engine for it was poorly written and implimented and they counted on technology that wasnt even developed yet. As far as performance I believe most of the FPS people are saying they are getting is out of combat. Once in a group or raid with all the spells flying and particals growing I would be willing to bet that those 30FPS go bye-bye. I generally run 20-30FPS solo. 15-25 in a group and with my settings drastically lowered around 15-20 in a raid. I would say if someone is pulling more then 25 maxed settings in a raid they are pulling your leg. Especially zones like SoH that are really known for lag.

No computer can run this game completely maxed without stuttering. Blame the coders.

I am running a 99$ card on Vista 64 with 4gb ram and I get over 57 FPS in highest mode 1600x1050 with just shadows and Flora turned off. EQ2 is Processor dependent... not Vid card. I am also running with the 6600 Quad.
