Hey, I'm new to EQ2. I actually played it back in 2006 for like 2 months then quit to go back to EQOA for the ps2. I was just wondering what is a good server to start a new toon on? I seek one with lots of people and plenty of low levels to group with. Help me out? On eqoa on the ps2 all the servers pretty much died and i can hardly get a group going. I dont want that same thing happening here lol.

Create a couple of characters at peak time (around 7 PM eastern time), at the creation screen, there will be a list of servers with loads. If you are worried about population, just pick one of the heavier load ones. Antonia Bayle is probably the most populated PvE server.

As far as groups, this is a tricky one. Some people will try to tell you that people don't group much anymore till end game. This is a misleading statement. Some people like to solo but many still like the group. The correct statement should be, many people don't like to make the effort to put together a group. If you are a proactive person, I guarantee you that could probably put together a group almost every night. If you are one just put that <LFG> tag up and sit there in town, you'll probably won't get picked up very often...maybe a little if you're a tank or healer.

Sigh... I liked EQOA... sad to see it go the way it did, but that's the way these things happen... specially with no marketting to get the game out there.

Anyways, EQ2 is far from EQOA when it comes to population. If you want to get a high population server, you can try the Roleplay server: Antonia Bayle. It has the highest population of any other server out there at the moment and probably for a long time to come. I am not sure how its newbie population is though. Average level per server... I know there is a page in EQ2Players that shows it, but I don't remember where it is. Anyways, I would also like to recommend my home server of Kithicor. Very helpfull bunch of people always trolling the lower level areas giving advice and helping out. I have remembered a few times that I have donated a nice little chunk of change to an obviously new player and helped him out on the right track, so be asured there are many friendly and helpful people there.

I just came back and made new characters to play with some friends on Unrest. Right now, there are alot of new people running around. Both returning vets and real newbies. There are not so many people that I'm bottlenecking at finishing quests, but there are enough that I get at least one group invite a night, and people form groups up for the low level dungeons every night as well. So far I'm liking Unrest due to the fact I can get things done without alot of competition, and when I go to town or hit the popular hubs there are people running around.
