'm gonna create a scout/brigand and i really like the ratonga, but i notice his strength is only 10 compared to the ogres 30, which i also like, will it make all that difference? will the ogre kill quicker because of his high strength. I'm new to EQ so i don't know how the stat system works. Many thanks.

Do Strength scores of races matter? In the short term, yes. But in the big scheme of things, not a bit.

You'll notice a difference in the Strengths more in the level range of 1-20. But since you can blur through that in Timorous Deep (TD) in around 6-8 hours of play, that's really not much of a drawback. After that point, you have a large amount of gear control that begins with the level 22 Mastercrafted (player crafted) gear. With these items, you can coordinate the stat bonuses from your gear and racial differences start to mean very little.

Race selection is more important when it comes to the base racial abilities that you get. Also every race gets free special ability choices at every multiple of 10 levels. Study these first and then base your racial selection on the future combination that will work best for you.
